Somehow they kinda remind me of the michelin man...
I've recently been seeing some of this type of kote advertised in the Japanese kendo mags and I understand there's a bogu maker in Kyushu who's been making kote of this design. It would seem that this might be catching on as a design innovation--the future of kote perhaps....?
