Does the Zekken have to be blue in colour?
The reason I ask is that I would like to have one made up from other material.
Cheers, Jim

I've never seen one that didn't closely resemble the standard ol' navy color (always a little on the darker side, of course). If you are allowed to wear one of a different color or not, especially in tournament settnigs? I have no idea. What material/color(s) are you thinking of?

I've only seen the indigo blue or black used for zekken...
now... something cool that i have seen is.. on a black zekken, the name of the school was sewn on (horizontal across the top) using beautiful green thread...
the name of the player was sewn on (vertical down the middle) with white thread...
it was really neat.

The zekken is a name tag to identify you during Shiai, testing and the ocassional trip to other dojo's. Doesn't need to be fancy, just clean and simple

I don't have it right ere with me, but i remember that the Chiba Bogu Catalogue had zekken in white, grey and at least two shades of blue.

I remember seein a couple people wit white zekken and black writing stitched on it. I've also seen white and blue zekken wit gold writing, pretty neat. www.kendoshop.com (http://www.kendoshop.com), they have couple different zekken. www.eguchi.net (http://www.eguchi.net) has the stitched ones

I am thinking of making one in DPM (camouflage) material. I have made it and I think it looks pretty cool, but I am not sure if i'll be able to use it outside of my dojo.
i'll post a pic of it soon. I have also made a DPM shinai bag which also looks good (pics to follow)

It would be no good in the jungle, if you put it down you'd never find it again!!!
