got to wear my bogu yesterday and i did some keiko -- _completely_ different with bogu on, and i learned that i REALLY need to work on my endurance -- we only do it for about 20-30 minutes and i was exhausted after only a few rounds :|
good fun, though. i love kendo! :D

Glad you enjoyed it. Keep it up.
Oh, and thanks - glad to know I'm not the only one who gets absolutely knackered... :D

Thats my promblem too. I'm doing haya-suburi everyday till I drop in an effort to increase my stamina. There are better ways to increase your stamina(cross training). I just really really hate running or doing anything else besides kendo to improve my endurance.

you know, i had the EXACT same idea. ive done a few hundred haya suburi a day for the past few days.
IMO, keiko is more tiring and strenuous than running. first of all, you're using your entire body, there's a good amount of weight in a shinai, so your arms get tired...AND you're wearing armor, so there's little breathing room so you heat up quick :P

6 months is nothing - at my dojo we can start to play with bogu not sooner than after around 1 yr of practice...

I think I was practicing for around 4-5 months before going into bogu. I still remember the feeling even now. I think I know what Darth Vader felt like in Star Wars. The men which I first used was also a bit loose so I felt like my head was stuck in a jar....
You soon get used to it so work hard.

When I started to wear bogu, I sometimes forgot to breath during jigeiko then suddenly I started to suck in like a cow. So, don't forget to breath. :ditsy:

Argghhh, I am too civil to do that since I'm civil engineer. beside I am not an old fart yet so what you have done doesn't mean others experienced the same.:pirate:
