Hello,
Im a 19 year old Swedish guy who wants to start practising Kendo during my stay here in Japan, I have been interested in Kendo for quite a while but in my city in Sweden there was no Kendo club.
Im currently staying in Japan and will be here for 2 and a half month and I was wondering if somebody could help me get into a club, I know some japanese but not good enought to slove this problem myself, so if somebody know what I should do please tell me.
Thank you very much!

Hi peter
where abouts in Japan are you based? Its a bit hard for complete begineers, you may have to join a junior high school practice to start with. Alternatively you could try and find if theres a kendo Bu at your local University.
If you give us some more details I might be able to advise more helpfully!
If your in Osaka or the Kansai area you could try asking George Mccall. He is in Osaka and is a Yondan, he often helps kendo foreigners out in Japan.

Hi Peter,
You can also look for the local community sports centre which are in many wards of Tokyo. They usually have kendo classes which are a bit less formal and easier to join.

Hello!
Im living quite close to Tokyo like between Tokyo and Yokohama, if its alright I might come and train at your dojo Chris.
If someone else know some place for me to train Kendo please tell me, it is always nice to have options.
Thank you all very much!

Hi Peter,
There is a dojo in Kawasaki which could be closer to you. You should go along and have a look.

I no longer live in Kanagawa so I train in Tokyo.
