Haha i have that song from Dance dance Revolution stuck in my head. Okay okay well, i went to kendoshop's page yesterday to go look for Men to purchase for a reasonable price, and I saw a lot of great deals (cheap, cheap, cheap =P). What i'm wondering is that if it'll last me a while. i don't want my men to fall apart on me, or not not have enough padding to provide me with proper protection from those axe strikes to the head (I get hit kind of hard sometimes). Anyways, my question is that has anybody bought any men from kendoshop?

Perhaps it goes without saying that getting hit on the head is hard on the neck, and one would think it can't be too good for the skull either. That said, if you decide to get a cheaper men, maybe it would be a good idea to get a bit of extra padding to go inside. In previous threads, people have mentionned using old mousepads, and a variety of other items.

Surresh.......... As an Ex-SKC member, I know there were only 2 distributor before... both were Korean goods.... But then, the "You know who" who distribute Kendoshop doesn't exactly did a good "after sales" services...... his method is almost, "you bought it, and it is not my problem anymore"..... !!!

as a general rule, when buying the cheapest be aware that though the goods might be ok, the service and attention will be generally poor.

just like when you go to a 3 star hostal instead of a 5 star hotel.

i've bought most of my things in kendoshop and they're fine, but it's true contacting them for questions and support about their goods is a pain in the ass.

1. they can't speak(enough) english (if you know korean, good for you).
2. they don't seem to have enough personnel to attend all the costumers complaints/doubts/requests.

so if you know what you want without questions, go for kendoshop.

now, if you want to get picky and fuzzy about your buyings, go somewhere else and be ready to pay more for it.

I think I'm going to get my little brother the cheapest set kendoshop has to offer (only if he sticks to it that is).

Cheap men won't fall apart. Just the quality of materials will look very K-mart.

And your vast experience lets you make this comment how? Cheap men do in fact fall apart. One of the problems is where the mengane is attached to the menbuton, that can crack and loosen up especially at the top where it gets hit a lot. The other is the cloth and trim pieces tear and fray because they are not sufficiently strong to take the pounding.

Basically, I was writing crap. You got me there. My ulterior motive was to have my username on each topic in the Kendo area. You and Hongsmeiser ruined that.

Im shopping for a light weight hand stitched men, but i am struggling to find any information regarding the weight of the men. Also can anybody confirm the weight of IBB pro titanium mengane??

Just a point in the right direction would be helpful :D

Nishi san

IBB is Ideal best balance which the mengan itself has higher centre of mass and about same level as centre of mass of head of player which make player feel more comfortable. Its mass is roughly the same between IBB Titanium mengang and titanium mengang.

Look at Mori web site http://www.moribudo.co.jp/ef-first.htm

they will explain more on IBB mengang also ask them for their catalogue, all of mengangs are IBB.

Eguchi has a men on sale right now for $75. I picked one up thinking I would use it for a spare for the dojo. WRONG! I now have a new men. Nice construction, good materials, way lighter than my old one, and my ears don't ring when I get whacked in the noggin.

Highly recommended.

It looks like there is only ONE kendoshop in Korea, but the truth is there are many of good quality Kendo manufacturers such as Samshin, and Sehyun. unfortunately, they do have website but their English website is poor... Some of companies don't sell their Bogu via Internet.
I guess Kendoshop.com is new company.. They are trying to sell their Bogu for a little less money with little reputation and popularity.

If you really want to buy a cheap bogu, try to find MADE IN CHINA.. One of my friends had one, it was really cheap.. You only pay a half of Korean's...

Enjoy Kendo!

If you really want the cheapest bogu, try my cardboard box bogu MADE IN USA. Only $10 US.

I only use the finest cardboard used to package Maytag refrigerators. The entire set will be custom designed for you. No two bogu will be alike. Applying traditional Japanese bogu-making techniques, the natural appearance of the cardboard will be left unmolested, so you may have the words "This Side Up" partially appearing on the tare. So elegant.
