I'm very proud of my work...It's a sort of a mix of Ikea items.
Any comments?

That is most awesomely excellent!
Very creative, and an brilliant idea!
Now I want one! :D

How long did it take you to make it?

Actually I don't know...I spent some hours during the week-ends.
Maybe 12 hrs, but you have to wait for the putt to dry and so on...
A lot of job with sand paper and it's a little hard to make perfectly aligned holes...

Is is very nice, much nicer than my adapted steel hockey equipment hanger.

I wonder if you should hang your kote with the openings down instead of up or on the horizontal. With the hand down, the sweat will tend to wick towards the paded fists. If the pad is made of deer hair or something similar the added humidity will favor mildew and other not so great issues. You will also tend to wick towards the palms which will favor rot.
Just a few thoughts.

Once again great job.

I know abot kote...This stand is built to hang kote with openings downward (as You said). I put my kote this way just to have more appeal.
Thank you.

You said Ikea items? which ones if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking to make one myself and this looks really well done.

If anyone needs further information to build a stand like mine, don't hesitate to ask!

There was a plan for a tubular steel one knocking around the web somewhere. I could do with something like this, would save me dotting bogu around the house to air off

There was also one in PCV with a hairdryer attachment you should check out.

Yup, your dryer looks quite a bit like the one I purchased a few years back (Sport Tree $35.00).

I modified the center post by adding a wooden patio post head in order to sit my men without damaging the futon. Yours seems to have a springy thing on the bottom where you might be able to stick your kote. Mine does not have that :( although it does have a hook that works well for the do:). It is not pretty but has done its job for the last several years.

I am an amateur woodworker, I hope you do not mind me borrowing some of the ides and making one for myself and for my sensei. I downloaded all the pictures, now I have to look at them and come up with a materials list. I think I will do it with various dowels, may have to use harwood dowels though. I'll let you know how it turns out. You did a fantasic job, looks great.

Of course I don't mind. I posted the pics with that purpose. About the dowels, I used wooden ones.

You can buy dowels made of that basel wood stuff that are used for hobbies and such, but at woodworking shops you can buy dowels made from darn near any wood you can think of and some you can't. I would want to find one that is strong, light, and rot resistant. Maybe I will go traditional (lol) and try to find Japanesse White Oak dowels.

Mmmh. Alas my knowledge about english technical woodworking terms is very poor, but I think I've understood.
I only used one metal screw joint between the base and the pole.
