I think it depends on the day. You missed Y Onitsuka and S Hamamatsu (forgive the spelling). At the last US I'd say it was C Yang.

Wouldn't that be Hatakeyama, the current US Champion? Or is this another US citizen thread?

Also what about some of the sensei and former US champs? This really isn't a question that can have a definitive answer.

No, it is Hamamatsu from Palo Alto. One of the Sensei there. They would love to have him on the US team but he's a green card holder. There is also Tetsu Nishimoto from Oakland/Berkley. He's a former US Champ.

No, it wouldn't be Hamamatsu. And it was meant as a rhetorical question.

As I stated, you can't really answer this. It would be one person on one day and someone else the next day.

Plus, what do you mean by "strong"? Winning competitions strong, like Chris Yang? Or just strong like Koike-sensei?

Sorry I didn't understand your question. I thought you mistook my spelling.
I do agree that there is no real answer to this question, only opinion.
As I stated before it depends on the day. The saddest part of this question is how many people do not fight in taikai's any more due to the politics involved. Some very good kendo is being missed.

Considering that the question was "the strongest guy in the US," not the "the strongest Amercian," I'd say the answer is Hatakeyama, for now. There would be no other way to measure this objectively otherwise.

The strongest guy in the US would probably be whoever is the US powerlifting champion. The strongest kendo player in the US, that's me.

I have no idea who these people are that you have put into this poll, but as i wish to participate in this poll I have voted "other" , and chose Tom Cruise, as he is the only American I think is worthy of holding that title.
