Warabit,
you may have more success if you contact the local association / dojo, as there is no guarantee that anyone from the area will be a member of this forum
Good Luck!

As your luck would have it, I am a member of the Southeast Kendo Federation. There are three affiliated dojos in Florida, there is one at Ft. Myers, there is one in Miami, and I cannot remember the location of the third.

I am in Orlando, and there are not any others in Florida that are members of the SEUSKF. Tim Lamberth is up in Ft. Walton Beach and there are a couple of other schools here and there but none that are in the south that I know of. Hey bukowski, your part of the SEUSKF? Where you from? Are you going to be at the testing on Saturday? I will be there testing, if so just look me up. Ask any one thats been in the Federation a while and they can point me out to you. Name is Eddie Miller.

I think the dojo you are referring to in Hollywood is no longer at that location. They have been looking for a new place but as of yet have not had much luck. I am also searching for a dojo and I am in west Fort Lauderdale. I just recently returned from Japan and have practiced a total of 10 times since returning. There doesn't seem to be very much of a market for kendo in S. Fla.

Warabit,
You may need to find another martial art to tide you over until you are older and it's easier to get around under your own steam. Perhaps if you shared your interests with us we could recommend something to you. A lot of folks like aikido because there's sword work involved in that art, too, and there's usually an aikido studio in just about any area. Judo's good, too.

Warabit,
I found a dojo off of Commercial Blvd and University in Broward county. I went last Friday to check it out. I am going to join this Friday. Its pretty difficult to find but it is a bit (10 - 15 miles) closer.
KendoShiai,
I'm in West Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for the offer. I'm actually heading up to Orlando November 1st so I might drop by if its ok. Do you happen to know of any qualified Naginata teachers? I'm really interested in it.
Thanks.

His name is Mike Cobb. I'm not familiar at all with the martial arts community here so I'm not sure how to evaluate the level of instruction available. But he knows what he's doing and seemed very personable. I've been looking for a place since I returned from Japan 6 months ago. Its been an interesting journey...but I suppose I'll leave it at that. Thanks again for the invite. Warabit, the address is:
7600 NW 50th Street
Plantation
Pop the address into mapquest.com to get an idea of how far it might be from you.

Yes I know of Mr. Cobb. There are two other schools there in the area. Just a FYI. There is
Yaiquimi A. Pla Sensei
http://miami-komei-jyuku.org/
and
Mike Meade

Both I also know and can verify they both have excellent Kendo skills. Your more than welcome to come up and practice while here in Orlando and we look forward to having you here.
