Just for info to all. The typical asian is not raised in the US. The food you eat here is much different, resulting in different body dimensions. If you go to Japan and get out of the big cities(Tokyo, Osaka) you will find most Japanese are shorter than the average American. That being said, their diet is also changing and it's becoming much more common to see 6 ft tall Japanese in the younger generations.

The Korean national squad does not represent the average height of Koreans.
You're statement is the equivalent of saying everyone on the US Men's Olympic basketball team is over 6'6", that means the average height of Americans is 6'6".

Yes Asians are getting more obese but it's not because of Canotonese cuisine. People have been eating that for thousands of years. What is keeping the weight down is oolong tea which is a great emulsifier of fat for THAT kind of food.
On average the Asian BMI index, is still much different than compared to Westerners.
Those who are getting fat are the ones who have changed their diet i.e. more fast-food and less oolong tea. Just a simple example. Biology and diet-culture has a lot to do with it.
