Still not sure about him.
Is he a) a beginner, b) a social outcast, c) misunderstood or d) a muppet?
Some of the above are acceptable - others are not. Hellsing? Can you fill us in?

Could one be a misunderstood muppet socially outcast because he is a beginner?

We don't cast out beginners - just muppets and backyarders... I doubt we have misunderstood some on here...

At the next meeting, I'll vote we approve Hellsing, but put him on probabtionary status. By the way, if there is a boardroom coup as you proposed, Scott, we may come to blows, unless it's me you wish to install as chairman. Let's communicate on the issue further by ninja courier.

Cool, blood ritual initation, I don't have to burn the image of a saint in my hands and recite that "as this image burns, so shall I burn if I betray the family" do I? My great grandfather did that and it didn't work out very well for him in the end, made a lot of headlines though, guess he should have had Ninja on his payroll.

LMAO! Hardly, but my great grandfather was Al Capone's underboss, he was murdered a few weeks after Al went to prison for tax evasion. And my cousin Carmine Ragucci was forced to step down a president of a Statin Island shipping company because of Gambino legal issues just a few years ago. My grandfathers name was Anthony Ragucci, they make some good reading material if you google them. That side of the family was a large part of the reason my father took me many of the places he was stationed while I was growing up, as well as a good reason to live in Florida instead of the city. That life isn't something I want to associate myself with, but it makes for good conversation material. However that side of my family is from Ragusa Sicily, I wonder if their names became Ragucci in the same way Vito Andolini became Vito Corleone..
Charlie

I read something very interesting about Ellis Island that was also demonstrated in the Godfather films. It's been this American myth that people's names got butchered at Ellis Island. That is not the case - Ellis Island was staffed with people speaking every language of the peoples coming in. As in the movie, when the guard is asking young Vito what his name is through a translater - the reason they name him Corleone is because Vito refuses to speak!
But I wonder if Ragucci means "from Ragusa" or something. At any rate, may I call you "The Big Ragu?"
Sincerely,
Polish Kid From Detroit

Sure Charlie, if you like. But isn't that Carmine's nickname on Lavern and Shirley (better be careful I'm showing my age) Now that I think about it I wonder if he spelled his last name the same.

Ooops, it appears that Tony Ragucci, one of Capone's sub bosses, was murdered but not until October 1953 about twenty two years after Capone went to prison. Maybe there were several of them.

After reading this I have to admit you are right, I was going on memory, and as I am occasionally reminded can be fallible, thanks for the inspiration to double check this myself. Most of my memory on the subject is from my grandfather, who now has the identifying ring mentioned in the article. There are lots of Anthony Ragucci's in my family, as well as Mary's, Joey's, John's, Carmine's, Dante's, seems none of them are very original when it comes to recycling names, lol. I sometimes wonder if they do this for plausible deniability. It does make family get together's kind of confusing.

Sorry Charlie, nothing but half and half and mountain dew in the fridge.
Ignats, if you jump into a swamp without you hip boots, it isn't my responsibility to "fetch" you a pair, isn't being prepared a MA credo? Or was that the boy scouts? Perhaps I can arrange a meeting between my grandfather and you, I don't know where Marshalls Creek PA is, but if Camden NJ (right next to Philadelphia PA) isn't too far perhaps he could dismiss all of your assumptions about me. I seriously doubt you will call that man a liar. PM me if you have the heart to stand by your convictions, Do remember if you do accept my invitation, this man is an old world Sicilian who came here with the clothes on his back in 1902 and spent his life here living what was to him the American dream, treat him with the respect he deserves. You may also ask (although he couldn't tell you much else about the time there) and he will verify when and how long I lived in Osaka, and show you the pictures I sent him. I await your reply, until you are willing to accept these honorable terms, find some muppets, and trolls to hunt. It's summer vacation and you should find plenty of targets worthy of your ire. Do try and stop stalking me.

You think very highly of yourself and that is a good thing but your track record is abysmal viv a vis truth.
Nobody really cares who your ancestors were or were not. Mine were a bunch of ignorant peasants that didn't amount to much at all. No kings, no famous gangsters.
I have had no special training in major dojos in Japan with famous people. My kendo speaks for itself. I'm not the greatest but I do ok. Many people on this forum have experienced my special brand of hell under the upraised sword and I will stand on that.
Stop trying to impress everyone, it is not working. There are lots of dojos in Florida. I have "weighed them" and found them not to be wanting. Join one of them. Heck, drive over to Satelite Beach and let Mr. Yamaguchi smack you around a little bit. He is a swell guy. Go to Tampa, several schools there. Dojo in Orlando is getting back up to speed I think.
In any event, stop teaching and start learning and you will be better off.

Scott, he doesnt have a computer, and wouldn't know what to do with one if he did, but I just got off the phone with my grandfather and he says he is going to send me some of my pics. I have a scanner here at the house if you would like to pm me with an e-mail address I'll send you them. I have some good pictures of the Osaka Jo, the bay, and Nakanoshima Island, as well as some of the friends I made, and places we stayed.
Ignatz, my great grandfather was far from famous, his death was little more than a footnote historically speaking. For as much as I searched for information on him the article you found mentioning him was all I could find about him. There are tons more about my still living cousin than him, and all things considered that isn't much. But then I guess staying out of the spotlight was the rule in their business in the old days. I didn't mention it to impress anyone, not that it should, like I said it made interesting reading. The principals of honor and respect that I learned from my grandfather, I still apply to life today. I am proud of where I came from, but that doesnt make me arrogant, nor does it give me delusions of grander. I'll find a dojo and continue my training, bushi-kan dojo is a 6 hour drive each way, that isn't workable, but I'm looking, and I'm not teaching anyone, so that's an easy one to continuing.

When I was younger they claimed that somebody left me on the doorstep. But like they say, even whores and politicians become respectable with age, just gotta outlive everyone.
Oh, metsuke, since your grandfather came here in 1902 with just the clothes on his back, assuming the clothes were not diapers, he has to be at least 110 years old now so don't put too much strain on him.
Continue your training? Start your training would be better. See that little red thingy under your post count? I didn't do that, you did. Most people that get them have "banned" under their name. Some people have started off here with big bullshit stories and when found out fessed up and now are doing well.
There are several good dojos close to you and the only thing that is stopping you from going is what? Nothing.
Metsuke
20th July 2006, 03:35 AM
He was born 3 days before they left Palermo, so you are off by almost 5 years. The only thing stopping me now isn't your concern, now is it? I have made appiontments to visit a few schools near by, but you wouldn't know that would you, or are you employing Scotts ninja and using illegal phone taps? I am yet to seek your advice, and to be honest Ignatz, I generally avoid, or ignore your posts, as they are usually argumentative, and harassing as this sentence shows my point. After being offered some proof to some of the things I've said, closer to you than I am, you respond.

Oh Phillip, eyegazythingy (with the appropriate nod to Rottunpunk), kenji_71_06 and whatever other names you may have used, yes I do know you. I have seen you many times before.
Before you tell us again how you only have one account, let me refer you to Ms. Rottunpunk (or the cunt as you called her) She checked the Aiki forum and found that Philip Ragucci (aka kenji_71_06) has an account.
Here it is:
http://aikiweb.com/forums/showthread.php?p=146243#post146243
The other guy who was refered by the "cool kats" was none other than kenji_71_06 or was it Ragucci metsuke scion of the Capone family. For those of you who are not following this, Mr. Metsuke Ragucci started a thread about his great prowess and then Mr. Kenji_71_06 jumped in and asked for advice which Mr. Metsuke Ragucci graciously supplied.
Several people have pointed out that you claim to have studied under at eacher that stopped teaching before you were born.
And the beat goes on.
I don't know why you make this stuff up, I'm not a shrink. However, and I say this with great concern, you should consider seeing one.
In any event, multiple accounts used the way you have used these is a violation of the rules and you sirs need to be banned.
Scott?

Philip/Metsuke,
Sometimes I help. Sometimes I hinder. Most people are like that on this board. You would have found Iggy like that, had you not spouted off about your training etc etc.
As for the multiple usernames, you denied them yet have been proven a liar. The aikiweb page proves that (I just did a screen grab, btw). Best thing to do now is to come clean. No slate is that dirty that can't be wiped clean with some effort.
Caring advice time:
1) Remove stick from arse.
2) Sort out this embarrassing mess you got yourself into.
3) Get into a dojo. Any dojo. Train until you can't do anymore.

Metsuke, please remember that this is not a bunch of wannabes sitting behind their PCs taking the piss or being elitist. This is an online community that when not at the PC or at work, we all train in budo/bujutsu. This is a constant.
If you want to do the same, you need to have a certain mindset. Being an arse isn't part of that. No, that is harsh - I'll retract that but leave the feeling in place. You need to conform a little. Leave the ego to one side, bite the bullet and drop your opinion of yourself down a notch or two.
The one comment you made that cracked me up is the desire to finish your iai training by learning two kata! You have barely started! I have been in the MA since 1984 and practicing JSA for the last 7 years or so. I still consider myself a beginner.
