View Full Version : Alternate way of tying hakama

Today, my sensei saw the way I tied my hakama when putting it away(the first method in the link) and told me I should tie it according to the traditions of our school. I have no problem with this and he demonstrated it a couple of times but I don't remember anymore. The method he did reminded me of a basket weave somehow.

If anyone has any links that shows other ways to tie it other than the ones showed in the link, I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

Yeah, you're going to have to go to your sensei or to a senpai to show you it again. I don't know of any other way to tie up the himo than the traditional way: fold into thirds, yada yada yada, tuck the himo ends under the loops.
