If it's ok, I'll come next year!

Raiza,

If you are from JCCC I think you guys are not crazy but very respected opponent! I think this Taikai is open to every Federation in and out side of U.S. This is first time I competed in U.S. Looking forward to this weekend.

I plan on competing. However, might get stuck at work, in which case I won't be able to compete. I'll try to help organizing in any case. I'll have an NYCKC zekken with name ãé.

I was looking for you Sminki. Only to find couple of your last name on SDG guys.. Anyway, I had individuals with Spencer Wong ( 5 dan from NYC Kataoka's dojo ) and lost in encho and had a team match with Grivas sensei ( 7th dan from HMK ) that was an experience. I almost had him on Kote Nuki men but he got my piece of kote before I hit him.. Oh well, many good kensis and many new dojo participation. Like 2 years ago, (2) Yondan went to final match.. But the tournament got so big, I left around 6:00 and the team macth was still going on - given all the finals to go, it probably went till at least 8:00 p.m.

Center - still lost

well, got a big meeting coming up so i was working all weekend... i actually stopped by for 10 minutes during the day and saw my name crossed off from the taisenhyo in red. :-( anyway NYCKC team C ended up beating KenZen A in the finals and winning the team tourney. i hear it was a well-run tournament in general. i just wish i could've competed...

Oh well, maybe next year unless I decide to visit some dojos during summer. My dojo closes during August. Does your dojo close at all? How about OW's dojo, do they close during summer?

Center - should've had that kote nuki men

As far as I know we are open. This better be so, since our fees are paid for 6 months at a time and I would hate to think I just paid for 6 and only got 4.

As a side note, Master Seong actually turned on the air conditioning for about 15 minutes, last night. It's nice to know that my feared cardiac arrest from heat exhaustion could be avoided - if he wanted to eschew the "old fashion" way.

NYCKC stays open all year. Visitors are always welcome. No A/C so it gets pretty hot in August.

OK guys, let me see if I can find an excuse to visit both dojos.. See you (possibly) during August.

In August I'll be in the NYC metro area for about 2 weeks. Hopefully I can find a place to practice. I got a taikai coming up in the beginning of September. Hopefully I can meet some people on this forum. That would be great!

But, I am truly an unworthy KWF guy. Although, I am confident I passed my 6 geup exam last night (we go from 10 to 1).

karaken - i thought my message recruiting you and ow was already clear. visit us in aug when your dojo shuts down. and the two of us can even visit seong sensei in NJ (which I haven't been able to do in a while) and perhaps ow can check out nyckc as well - regardless of "rank".

Sounds great - Now I have a reason to look forward to August.. Keiko & Cold beer ? Life can be good - we have 20s, 40s and 50s.. Hey Iwatekenshi - are you happened to be 30s to cover all the spectrum ?

OK, so much for that private msg stuff - can't even go over 1,000 letters.. Here's the latest..

Sminki let's fill hours here if you know..

8/8 Kenshinkai - evening ?
8/9 SeongMooKwan - 11:00 a.m.
8/12 NYCKC - evening ? ( Goodbye practice with Iwatekenshi )?

IW and OW, see if this fits your schedule ( one or more ) after
Sminki fills out the hours..

Sminki, R U responding to all of us or just me ( I can't see )
anyway, Kataoka sensei knows me - he used to come to my
dojo in NJ. The whole thing is to coordinate with IW and OW,
so we can have some social afterwards..

Maybe we should carry this onto EUSKF forum for easy of responding. What do U think?

Well, if we go to KenShinKai on 8/8 and SungMooKwan on 8/9, that leaves 8/5, 7 and 12 for NYCKC. Coming to NYCKC is easy anyway. You can just show up and introduce yourself to Kataoka sensei and ask to practice. I can also give him a general heads-up that some of my KWF friends will visit in August.

sminki
16th July 2003, 11:37 PM
8/8 Kenshinkai - 6PM - 7PM
8/9 SeongMooKwan - 11:00 a.m.
8/12 NYCKC - 7PM - 8:30PM

NYCKC which used to have kihon practice from 6:30 - 8 and bogu practice from 8 - 9:30 recently changed class format a bit so bogu practice starts earlier around 7ish and from 8:30, we do iaido. So be aware of the change because I think the website still has the old hours/class format.

Sminki, I'm definitely planning on 08/12 at your place as we have originally planned ( and agreed?) - IW leaves on 8/14.
I was trying to get one more in somehow. IW, can you do 8/9 at
Sungmookwan 11:00 a.m.?

Karaken,

I got the following message from Iwate. I'll be at NYCKC on 8/12. Note our schedule has changed a bit so keiko starts at around 7PM and from 8:30~9:30 we practice iaido, so please bring your iaito and bokken.

I'm sorry I'm so busy on this trip! I brought my bogu but I don't think I can meet up with all of you (:
Just a thought, I have a keiko engagement in Philly at Tanshinkai. Can anybody come???
My apologies to all!!

PS I contacted OW but only mentioned if I could just poke my head in and say hello.

Well the reality is,family is taking precedence over kendo!!! UGH!!! THE HORROR THE HORROR!!!

Hope to hear from you,

Iwate

PS please email back at iwatekenshi@yahoo.com

I cannot reach Karaken it seems like his PM box is full.

IW, That's too bad. I was counting on 8/12 at least.
When are U going to poke your head there IW? I was going to
go OW's dojo on Sat 11:00. Maybe we can just meet even if we have no chance for keiko.

OK, Sminki I guess I can count on meeting you at least.
I don't do IAI ( guess I can start but my sword is very sharp )
but I'll show up with Bokken and bogu at 7:00 or earlier if I can.

BTW, can I just show up at OW's dojo on Sat 11:00 or do I have to notify them first.

Karaken,

Is your Sensei Fujieda kazumasa of KYUDOKAN?

My name is David from Princeton Kendo Club we might have met, since we often travel to your dojo for joint practices. And Fujieda Sensei comes down to Princeton University Kendo Club once a month during school semester.

Hope to see you.

Fujieda sensei is with Kyudokan in NJ. I normally practice at Scarsdale Dojo but I used to to NJ dojo during winter time. Yes, I'll be there on 6/19.

See you there..
