Is there a patch for this division. I think I qualify.

It was a good day overall. Got some good video. Got to beat up Mr. French. Got a nice bruise on my backside from a missed Dou. And got some good pics. First pic its moocaw and tenken in the final. :cross_eye

Second pic. It's Kurukuru in the hallway. The kindler, gentler samurai. :cross_eye

It's funny when you see a picture of someone for the first time and then you say to yourself... "that's kurukuru???"
Not what I expected.

No offense meant to kurukuru, just that is the general reaction to seeing anyones picture for the first time, just substitute in a different name above.

:)

Yeah, it was a fun tournament. I was pretty close to actually placing this time in my group too. I won my first 2 matches, but lost to my 3rd opponent, who placed 3rd in my group. Oh well. Next time.

I was there as well. I got eliminated in the first round (but was still very cool and my first tournament). Park-sensi had a very impressive match in his last round I think.

M_French, this is going to sound stupid, but I were you working on court E during the yudansha matches?

Hongsermeier
24th June 2003, 03:08 AM
I think Park-sensei was impressive all day.
SirFingerLickin..which group were you in? :cross_eye

SirFingerLickin

I was in Adult Kyu, group 1, Court D I think.

I saw both you and M_French there. I wasnt in your group. I see you placed second was it? Congratulations on that.

I ended up in third. Had some disagreement with the calls made in the match I lost. I asked one shimpan later in the day about it. He told me it was a weak shot, but the other two gave the point so it didn't mater what he thought. I'll do better next time. :cross_eye

SirFingerLickin, You were in Adult Kyu group 1, court D? I was in group 2 on court D.

Hongsermeier, I only saw his first match and match to win his group. Man, Park-sensei's fights were nice.

I had a point waived off that I did not agree with. It kind of annoyed me until I watched a tape of my fight when I got home. It looked like two of the judges were out of position to see the kote.

All in all it was pretty cool. :)

Jodan vs. nito? Thats a match I haven't seen before. Matsuda sensei did some nito in the past, but never seen him go up against a guy who did jodan. That must've been cool to watch.

Kurukuru entertaining some kids. Just makes you want to go "Awwwwwww".. :D C'mon guys, a guy who gets along well with kids can't be all that bad, can he? :D

I will admit, I also thought the men they gave me against you was weak. I haven't had the chance to watch the video yet. Maybe it will change my mind.

Goomba..which side of bracket were you on? I didn't watch much of the side I didn't fight against. :cross_eye

Hongsermeier, I was in D-2 #27, I was the second to last on the bracket.

m_french, I was working the lights on court C during the yudansha matches. I had walked by you a couple times and thought you looked familiar and on my way home it hit me. I have praticed with you at PCI a while ago ago if I'm not mistaken. I had a friend record some matches but I have not gone through all of them yet.

Yeah man I remember PCI, I gotta get out there again...good practice! I busted up my toe that night trying to get around the drying pole...went to the North/South with my foot all taped up....ouch!:beard:

The tournament was fun! Congrats to tenken, next time you wont be so lucky..gahahahahahaha!!!! NO thats not a pic of me no!!!!! All i got was a little glass thing for 4th place. I wanted the Dough so that I could buy a new Shinai. It was fun seeing all of the WKF people at the shiai though. We all talked and laughed and there was no ill will cos we all homies straight from the hood yo! The kote that inouye did on takatsuki looked like a move called "white fang" from hajime no ippo. I was like "whoa what the heck was that?" I am glad that i got to do some kurukuru mens on people, that was fun...oh well next shiai is nisei week, but that shiai goes by age and rank, so none of us young guys will get a chance to fight with park sensei...booooo!

Hongsermeier
25th June 2003, 10:38 PM
Nisei is by age and rank. That makes for a small group for french and I. Very few 35+ kyu. Will I be lucky enough to get another trophy? Ahhhh the fun begins again. :cross_eye

There was dough !!!!

Man, I should've entered and... oh, wait a minute, there was that damn one year membership eligibility rule :(

Oh well... Next year I'll be there :)

And, a special thanks to Mizobe sensei (and Mr.Kurukuru for pointing me out to Mizobe sensei) for dragging me into Court A for shimpan duty (and I had it made as time keeper too). It would be the LAST court to finish before the Mohan Shiai. It ended soooo late that my dojo gave my bento away to someone else

Congrats to all the winners. I wish I could've stayed there but I had other commitments that day.

SirFingerLickin, My name is Brendon Gaines. I fought in the second to last match at the end of the first round. I think I fought a guy named Villa from SB (Santa Barbara I think)?

I'm hoping to get a web site built by the end of July or August with all clips I have from SCKF Championships and will have from the WKC when I get back.

He's a big guy. I had alot of fun during that match and he fights well. Hopefully I will get a chance to play against him in the future.
