Hello all,

I have recently suffered an injury which has brought my training to an end. I am looking for a new home for my bogu. It is a set that I put together from various sources: men and tare from e-bogu, kote from Eguchi, and the do from Kawato Budo-gu. This set is meant for a person with a, shall we say, larger frame. Here are the measurements:

Men: distance from chin to crown: 29"/73.66cm
distance around head: 23.5"/59.69cm

Tare: width near himo: 24"/60.96cm
distance from top of tare to bottom of center panel: 17"/43.18cm

Kote: distance around hand at knuckles: 8.875"/22.54cm
distance from wrist to top of second finger: 9.125"/23.18cm

Do: distance from bottom of do to center between tie rings: 14.25"/36.2cm
distance from bottom of do to tie ring: 16"/40.64cm
width of chest guard (top portion of do): 13.5"/34.29cm
width at opening of do: 16.5"/41.91cm

I used the measuring diagrams that are on e-bogu in case you can't understand my descriptions.

The pics I took are too large to post here so if you are interested please PM me and I can send them to you via email. We can work out the payment details, shipping method etc via email as well. Please let me know if you are interested.

Hi Ben-san,

What happened? Are you sure you can't train anymore?

You can still practice even if you can't wear bogu. Seriously, what happened? Maybe it can heal with time? And get back into it?

Hi, Ben... I was thinking the same than Kaorusan here. Are you sure you can not train anymore in your entire life? Cos that's a lil bit too radical.

Gosh, sounds quite serious. Would you care to tell us what happened?

Hello all,

I was in a bad car accident. Multiple injuries, broken bones and the rest. The docs say no more "contact" sports ever.

That's too bad. It sounds like you have a long road to recovery ahead of you. Nevertheless, kendo people never like to hear of someone getting rid of their bogu. It seems to fly in the face of all that we're taught about the longevity of kendo.

A set of armour is a special thing. It's unlikely that you'll be able to recoup much money on it anyway, so I'd suggest you hang onto it. Put it away somewhere. Just on the offchance...

All the best.

Sorry to hear that. Iaido is perhaps a good alternative. Hope you recover soon. Your mind will only grow stronger.

I thought I'd never put my equipment back on, and tommorow night I will....After 17 years. Hang onto it. It'll give you some incentive to get better. Worse case. Maybe your kid will want to give Kendo a try in the years to come.
