I was hoping if someone could give me some information on Kendo in Tucson, AZ. I am a complete newbie who has wanted to get started in kendo for about 9 years now. I finally decided, "right, you need to get on with it."
I found information about two potential dojo in Tucson, KoSho Karate and Tucson Kendo Kai. I have not been able to contact anyone in either of those. Can anyone please give me any information? I would appreciate it greatly.

Well KoSho Karate is a strip mall, best kick aerobics in town, one place teaches all arts, kind of shop that has high fees and is not a member of the AUSKF. They don’t offer kendo itself but a Kendo/Iaido/Chambara class. And it’s very expensive when comparing it to the other clubs in town (approx. 100.00 a month for just kendo).
For more normal kendo there are three options at the time of this writing, the Tucson Kendo Kai and Phoenix Kendo Kai, which are AUSKF clubs. There is also the University of Arizona Kendo/Kumdo club, which is run by Korean and Japanese students at the UofA that learned Kendo/Kumdo in their respective countries and still wish to practice and teach while attending college. These three options are relatively free with at most a small monthly fee to cover rental of practice space (10.00/month for Tucson Kendo Kai). Of course Phoenix Kendo Kai is a two-hour drive to Phoenix but instruction there is very good. It is possible to study at all three of the clubs as the dates and times are structured so there is little overlap.
