Being gay is cool. I can't speak from personal experience but I know one or two gay guys and whatever gets them through the night is alright by me.
Now that I've got the disclaimer out of the way, I got an email from a male colleague which included the following lines:
"It's been great working with you.
I will treasure the moments we had together."
I think this is they gayest thing anyone has ever said to me.
What's your opinion?

Mike Judge is a frickin' genius...hahahahaha
Maaaaaaan, I felt soooooo unhetero last year when my buddy and I decided to cook dinner together for our girlfriends on valentine's day. There you had two guys, in suits, one pushing the trolley and the other asking, "whether this wine would be good for the candlelight dinner tonight."
yes...

haha. must have made quite an impression! I would say that's pretty bad for the homophobic US.
This person wouldn't by any chance be a fobby asian guy would it? Cuz then it's somewhat more explainable.

I think you might be being a tad bit Homophobic on this issue.
I find that sort of candor refreshing, actually.
..Beyond that, just marry the dude like we all know you want to, and just be done with it, M'kay?
LOL

In the States that would be considered a gay thing to say by probably 90% or more of hetero men... that said there's nothing wrong (IMHO) with what he said or being gay either one.

If some guy from the mid-west said something like that, I would think GAY
If some FOB Korean guy said that, I would think get ESL classes...
Some of my colleagues said something like that when I was in Korea and I ended up having to sit down and explain to them WHY I was laughing so hard... We ended up drunk in a hostess bar and the wives came to pick us up. We were still laughing though :D

doesnt gay mean happy?
i thought it was nice that he felt he could share his feelings with you
of course it depends on the person and the situation
just be grateful that someone appreciates you, not many folk have that luxury
:p

Yeah, I wouldn't have said anything but it wasn't the first time. The first time he more or less told me he though I was hot like spicey cajun food. That time I was happy to put it down to cultural misunderstanding, but then came this email. I guess you've just got to be man enough to take things like this as a compliment.
I used to go to a school where there was a gay kid who actually turned up in girls clothes and wore makeup. I had a friend there called Stephan, whose nickname was "Stiffy". He was a good looking guy. "Stiffy" in itself is bad enough, but gay kid used to just call him "Erection". Now that's gay.

When I was a kid in Philadelphia there was a kid in the neighborhood whose name was "Danny the Queer". Danny was one of the toughest guys on the block, he had to be. Eventually everyone just accepted the fact that he liked to dress up in women's clothing and hang out at the Navy Yard and beat up sailors.:D

I would've normally said that you're over-reacting, but now that you've put it in context, it does appear as though his warmth is a little overdone.

Yeah, I've had a lot of people from different cultures express good-byes with a little too much warmth.
But, the "hot like spicy cajun food" one - mmm, that one would have made me a bit uncomfortable.
Hank.

I might have taken it wrong.
In Japan you notice the absence of overt displays of aggression. I've been out drinking I don't know how many times but I've never seen anyone getting beaten up. In Australia people fighting is something you see pretty regularly.
But then Japanese guys are far more likely to share their stories of trips to brothels and sexually transmitted diseases.
Guess it boils down to cultural difference.

Just kidding. If you know the person as a friend, then take it for what it's worth.

someone: "Are you busy at the moment?"
gay guy: "I've got my ass full... but I like it"
Is prolly the most gay thing I've ever heard from a gay...

I think that's pretty much all there is to do. It is a compliment, obviously, and there's no reason not to be glad about it. :) No matter if it's coming from a gay or a straight person.

Is it gay? Well, anyone can read into that message what they will. The relationship of your "male colleague" and your "moments together" might clarify the nature of gaiety, but I personally wouldn't need nor want to know this information. I'd simply interpret the message to be a heartfelt, albeit less-than-ideally-worded, expression of thanks.

I was thinking the same thing. If a chick said the same thing to me I'd find it a bit overbearing.

....I know you are but what am I ....sorry had to get into the swing of this thread.
Somewhere , someone has read this and is cringing for writing something personal that is now being deconstructed and dismembered by complete strangers. What a wonderful world.

That woman is a nutter. Who cares if a crossdresser uses the ladies loo?? As long as he put the seat down I wouldnt care. They should put in a unisex loo to REALLY freak her out!
