With regards to the article on Kirskaeshi how many people actually adopt this type of breathing technique?

Our sensei often has us do as much of it as possible on a single breath to help build stamina, well that's his story any way. I think he just wants to see who might feint first. ;)

3 breaths for me... but thats beacuse of my incredibly large overweight frame needs more oxygen than anyone else.... honest:)

Usually two times, one before the first kiai prior to the initial shomen strike and one more before kiai prior to the last shomen.
Sometimes I do it in one breath only, but it has to be a good day.

Kirikaeshi should be performed in three breaths. This is for the basic kirikaeshi. Other varients have different breathing.
1st breath Shomen
2nd breath taken to perform 9 sayumen and shomen
3rd breath for last set of 9 sayumen and shomen
It you cannot do it in three breaths doing all 9 sayumen, then you can reduce down to 5 or 7 sayumen to develop your ability.
