I'm thinking of going to University of Edinburgh in September. Any impressions of the university or the dojos there? I guess there's at least the one that's hosting the WKC.

Anyone have any opinons on living in the city? Is it very multicultural? Fun? I'd be there for two years if I went.

First, the WKC is in Glasgow, not Edinburgh :D.

Otherwise, go here :

Edinburgh is a fantastic place! I did a 5 year degree there, and enjoyed every minute of it (its also where I started Kendo!)

I am going back next year to do a Masters so maybe see you there!

Never trained in Edinburgh but the city is fantastic. There is a great multicultural feel there, and its quite touristy at certain times of the year, extremely historic, and the locals are as good as they come.

Im from Canada as well, and ive been in Britian 4 years now, im about to return home this year. Although im not in Edinburgh (im in england) I say go for it, you'll love it, and two years of your life is nothing!!

Next to the highlands, Edinburgh is one of my favorite places on this historically rich little island.

Edinburgh is the nicest city in the U.K.... and the dojo is - of course - ace.

We dont have a university dojo, but we do compete as "Edinburgh Universities" in the national uni championships and have been invited abroad as such.

If you need more specific information please email me.

Hi...

I agree that Edinburgh is a superb city. Good in all ways...

In regards to Iaido dojo or people...there are a few people on the go.

There was a guy John Honisz-Green... i saw him 2 times abroad and once in Japan and he was very good. He is a direct student of Oshita in Kobe. He may have returned to Japan again by now. He had some students there too...one guy was a nidan, Capaldi... and he was decent too.

Another path may be Neil Kemp... who is one of the best non-Japanese swordsmen ive seen... but he is non BKA.

Trouble is... i have no emails for these people so good luck But iai is alive in the city.
