If Iwasa won then why does H.Sato's name appear on Slidercrank's link???

Thanks for the page Slidercrank

Noticed that Dr.A made it past the round-robin. So did Katsujin (SIN1) apparently, assuming I got his name right. Congrats to both.

Here are the team results for the men: http://www.kendo.or.jp/japanese/result/12wkc/03_result/mt_final.html

Unfortunately the pool results aren't there. Taiwan held Japan to 3 wins, so way to go Taiwan! Italy made best 4 by beating Brazil, fantastic result for Italy. Canada unfortunately did lose to USA in the quarters 2-0, very dissappointing. Congratulations to USA for their best 4 finish, you guys have always had a strong team and a shitty draw. Another close win (2-1) in the final for Japan against Korea.

It was Taiwan men's team's bad luck to go againt Japan in the first round. It would have been nice, if they could have had matched the 3rd place finish of their women's team.

I did call the US over Canada in an earlier message, but I didn't have enough conviction to put money where my mouth was. Heck, way to go USA!

Italy over Brazil... who could have guessed that ?

Japan vs. Korea: it was a lot closer that it seemed. The 2 teams tied with 1 victory and 1 point each. The taisho match was a tie. And the tie-breaking match was the 2 taisho's (Eiga and Kim Kyeong-Nam) going at it again. Eventually Eiga prevailed with a tsuki.

Historical interest: Kim Kyeong-Nam was the Korean taisho at the 7th World, where he beat the Japanese taisho 2:0 at the teams final. The loss toda must have been bitter for him...

No, those are current. Word to the wise: if you right click on the links and select "open in new window" you can skip all the extremely annoying auto-refreshing ads. The new window still $#&$*@& refreshes every time you open and close a picture but it's better. Whoever wrote the code for that site really needs to learn some design.

Or you can just click on the link in my message. That link points directly to the frame that has only html. No auto refreshing whatsoever.

Who says Korea and Japan can't get along?

Eiga and a Korean team member (http://www.kendochampionships.com/show_image2.asp?Pic=12wkc/Sayoonara_party/12WKC_sayoonara_00105.jpg&Link=/images/12wkc/Sayoonara_party/&Titel=Sayoonara%20Party)

QEII stayed for 30 minutes in the end. On the original schedule it was only 15 minutes. So as his husband Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip and the royal gang.

We stopped the first shiaijo and two delegates from Japan did a 2 min demo (which I have already watched at close range when they rehearse 2 days ago). She went on sitting in the middle in front of the stage for a long while. Then she walked around all the other shiaijo (where the fights were still going on).

Duke of Edinburgh was the one who showed a lot of enthusiasm by talking to a lot of people on the way. He stopped and asked "who are you fighting next?" to a Austrian girl with her Men on who stood at my side (I was tying ribbons). After they passed by the girl asked me who he was... When I told her the answer she said, "Wow".

BTW she had her shoes on all the way while walking around and on the shiaijo.

i heard that nobody is allowed to talk to the queen unless given permission to? Well at least it looked like the Duke was having fun.

Well, it was a great competition. Tenken, thank's for the tenegui and moocow, nice move trying to throw the korean out of the shiajo.

Also, kurukuru tell sensei Ota congrats on her passing her godan test the next time you see her:D

Dork: Yar, royal protocal, you can't even touch her:rolleyes:

Taro's on the right, glowering at the action. He's the Canadian team captain. You can see Murao-sensei on the left, he's the coach. He beat Nishikawa-sensei in 88 in Korea I believe in a team match. Between the two players you can see Dean Ara, he made best 16 in individuals (losing to Chris Yang who made best 8). Fighting is Daisaku Taguchi, he got Kantosho in team.

Slightly sideways of the subject but which member of Team Canada was getting sick in the toilet of about 2 hours during the Sayoonara party???

I was about to call him a doctor!!!

BTW I think team Canada won the title for "most hot chicks in your team"!!!!

Ireland might not have won a match on the shai-jo
but we did well in the drinking afterwards!!!
only the Kiwi's and a couple of Scots kept up.

They kick ass, too. Proud to say that one of our dojo members is a member of that team (Takako Matisz).
