Yes, I understand your typing.
No, that sword is not good. You have to break into a museum and steal swords from the Edo period. Then, you can practice your home-made iaido. Can you understand my typing?

Before you go spending $1400 on a sword, find a sensei first. How far do you have to drive to get instruction? Some of us drive an hour or two to get to a practice. Sometimes it's worth it. This isn't something you can really teach yourself on your own. Also, spending that much money on something without a sensei to give you good instruction will only be a huge waste of money.
Not trying to be negative, but work on finding a sensei, instead of spending thousands on something you won't know how to use. Stick with the shinai for now. Get the sword later if you really want it, but at least wait.

No, when you learn you need 3 things. You need to have somebody tell you what you are doing wrong, you need to see it performed correctly, and use what you have learned.
From a video you are only getting one of those elements. Not to mention instructional MA video's cost alot of money usually.

And I strongly suggest that you do not get a sword (unless it would be for decorative purposes). You might hurt yourself and others. A lot of people on this forum who's trained for years (sometimes tens of years) don't have a real sword.

Yes.
Do you mean $1400 US dollars? If so - that is way too much for a good practice sword. Half that will get you a well made nice blade. Try Tozando.
