Sorry if this topic has been talked about in the past but here goes.
I was told that there is another Kendo renmei in Japan, that is seperate from the AJKF. If this is the case, could anyone out there please mention what it is! Any links would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I think this is what you're looking for. If you search around this forum we have discussed it in length once here.

Thanks for that,
Its pretty hard searching for this topic, as you7 have to wade through 500 threads to get there.
I'm familiar with the DNBK, I thought that there was another Kendo renmei which was dedicated souly to Kendo, like the AJKF. I was a little let down when I realised this was what the talk was about.
Thanks for your help.

Do you mean an organisation that is an alternative, or competes with the AJKF?

With my limited rudimentary Japanese, I would like to ask you what this is all about.
A kyokai is I thought something smaller than a renmei is it not? If you could be so kind to scan/translate that page I'd be very grateful. I will even never say anything bad about goats! (Well for a while at least)

Hmm. Nihon Kendo Kyokai.
They do seem to form some kind of competition to the ZNKR, only that they are very, very minor.
From the little I have managed to get off the web, they run shiai where anything goes (foot sweeps and the like) and have less regulations than the ZNKR when it comes to grading (no age limits etc). They are not affiliated with the ZNKR.

To quote from a Kendo World article by Alex Bennet which pretty much sums up the ZNKR vs other federations question.....
Of course, Japan also has its share of organisational rivalry and confusion, although to a much smaller scale. For example, the Dai Nippon Butokukai (Great Japan Society for Martial Virtue- my trans.), Nihon Kendo Kyokai (Japan Kendo Society- my trans.) and a variant form of kendo at the Nippon Budokan is the Ikkenkai Haga Dojo. They engage in a very physical pre-war style of kendo, which is noticeably different to the style of kendo encouraged by the All Japan Kendo Federation. There are also a number of separate iaido federations.
Nevertheless, all rival organisations in Japan to the AJKF are very small and hardly visible. The AJKF prohibits anyone from simultaneously belonging to and holding grades from the AJKF and other rival organisations. This had the immediate effect of strangle holding the activities of other groups.(13)
The AJKF is the only kendo organisation recognised by the government sanctioned Japan Amateur Sports Association (日本体育協会). They are also affiliated with the Japan Olympic Committee, although are not rated highly by the JOC.(14) In other words, the AJKF is publicly recognised as being the representative of kendo in Japan. In order to be able to participate in the All Japan Kendo Championships and the prestigious National Sports Festival (Kokutai), and the World Championships, the Japanese competitor must be a registered member of the AJKF.

体感する刃引真剣の唸りはがねが打ち合わされる.撃剣試合の試み.
taikansuru habiki shinken no unari hagane ga uchiawsareru.gekiken shiai no kokoromi.
Seems to be a trial at fighting with dulled steel blades. Could be painful.
Have a look at this pic as it shows a blade before and after a scrap.
