Here is bogu that is supposed to be from teh 1950's. I dont doubt that it is old, but some things about it don't look very traditional. What do you think?

No Kote, and what is that strange Tare replacement? How does it go with Hakama? Below?
Looks wicked, however. Then again, why Bokken and not shinai? Seems odd.

I didn't know you could actullay still learn Jukendo, but the pic you posted looks recent.

That would explain the date. Bayonet fencing was probably pretty up to date around WWII. But still, it's a wird mix.... Bokken, and no Kote.

Not to mention that the do seems like padding instead of bamboo or some other hard material.

The tare looks like it has a built in codpiece or groin cup. Did they have a lot of groin strikes back in the day? :P

Also, did they ever spar with a bokken?

I should start selling all the old, worn-out bogu lying around in my school's budokan as "antique" on e-bay. I'd be rich.

it looks to me like some european version of men-for JOGO COM PAO or something like that...anyway thats what i call DA REAL OLDSCHOOL MY MAN;)
