Never thought I'd start this thread, but here goes...

Last week, my appendix was laparoscopically removed. Needless to say the docs have not recommended that I return to kendo for at least 3 weeks, which sucks but I see their point.

Any suggestions for kendo-related exercises I can do without aggravating the small abdominal incisions I've got, i.e. low or no impact, no strenuous abdominal muscle contractions? I've been running slowly in the pool since 5-days post-op, but it's not kendo, darnit. Merely sitting through practise isn't fun either even if it can be educational.

Sorry for the weird post but there's got to be somebody out there who has had a similar experience. I have a few ideas in mind about what to do but I'd like to hear from you. Thanks.

I had a similar operation and was told 4 weeks minimum. I was operated on, on a Thursday and was at practice on Tuesday the next week. I practiced footwork and gentle shinai work. NO big streches!! If it starts to hurt stop!! No need to be rushed back to the hospital to have new stiches put in. :cross_eye
