You know what was cool though, it looks like the lacrosse player hits him right on the tsukidare. Thats some good aim.

Well, who the hell jumps around and swings their shinai in that fashion anyway?

I wonder how kendo is becoming such a more visual activity. There was the latest exposure in that new Hannibal movie, which I didn't watch but we discussed at length. Now they have a kenshi in a lacrosse commercial.

Or have I just missed the boat the last 10 years or so? I don't watch a lot of TV, so have there been other recent incidences of kendo I don't know about?

You gotta admit that it's at least entertaining.

In my humble opinion we don't have to get oversensitive over this kind of stuff.
Kendo, with all its apparel, bamboo sword and such, is destined to draw attention from the media and the common people.
And, don't kill me, at least I finded this commercial funny.

I dont care about the horrible technique, or the misrepresentation of Kendo(well, maybe a little).

I just think a Kendoka would whoop a lacrosse players ass.:calm:

Ahmed,

Have you ever played lacrosse? My son did both kendo & lacrosse for several years, and I'm not sure if it's a foregone conclusion that a kendoka would whoop a lacrosee player's ass. They wear less protetion and get hit and hit back a lot more - and they are very athletic & quick, and very good with the stick.

Here in the UK the have a celebrity sporting competition on the telly called the Games. Last year kendo was the featured martial arts and the contestants were trained by members of the BKA, including Paul Budden if my memroy serves. The year previously they did sumo...

The BKA put out notices that there may be an influx of beginners because of it, as they did when the The Last Samurai was released...

I would tsuki the lacrosse player, and crush his windpipe.

J/k.

Or maybe just a few scrote could do the job?

This seems a rip-off of the similar sequence in "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark" where another flashy sword guy gets offed by a shot.

Personally, I wish I could move that way in bogu.

Looks like a guy I knew. Cutting some fancy moves in bogu is not going to make you advance in Kendo. The ludicrious moves are offset by the simple movements of his opponent.

Classic.
