ha ha.. I got a treat for jodan guys.. I bought a Chiba sensei's jodan instruction DVD from Korean Kendo site and finally received it this week. I had to rip it from DVD software and it is not the best quality. I just ripped last 5 min of shiai portion. Sorry it is almost 400MB so I cannot really upload everything.

About 3:33minutes, there are scene with Chiba sensei and other Jodan kenshi which were very interesting.

Notice how stong Chiba sensei's kiai and spirit is ?? Wow.. wow.. wow...

The Video was excellent!
Just one question:
Was this from a commercial DVD?
I would not want you to get into any hot water.
(Looks over shoulder)
Because Big brother MPAA seems to be always watching these days.

Yeah, this is one of the hard to get video.. I don't think they are even part of MPAA. It is made by small studio...

That's pretty flagrant copyright violation... doing this kind of thing just means that these videos won't be made in the future...

Just because they aren't in the MPAA doesn't make it legal...

Schemidt, working for software company for 10 years and reading hundred legal documents, I am very aware of intellectual property right.

However, I personally think, I am advertising Chiba sensei's video. I have been asking around many people and searched google but it seems like it is almost impossible to find such videos in US. I found this video from Korean Kendo site. Only one Korean kendo site is offering this video. It took me almost one month to hunt down this video and cost me more than $100 for two Jodan & Nito DVD, and one Chiba sensei's Jodan training DVD. I want to make sure if someone is interested, I am willing to share this information, so that they don't have spend a month to search for such video.

You see, this is the biggest problem of Kendo. Kendo is being practiced within a closed society of Japan, it is almost impossible for foreigners to access such information. Books & videos. There are only handful of information is available to us. Unless you understand Japanese or Korean, most of us will have hard to to gain information...

Anyway, just like you are sharing what you have learned, I am also sharing some information with our fellow kendokas. If you have trouble with this, you are welcome to let any authority know about this. I will be happy to get rid of this link.

Anyway, it is about one hour length video talking about kihon jodan waza and also shows some of his geiko fight. If you are practicing Jodan, I think this is a great video you might consider to invest.

Yet, you provide no information about where to buy it?

I have been asking around many people and searched google but it seems like it is almost impossible to find such videos in US.

Well, if you just pick up one issue of Kendo Nippon, you'd find a whole page advertisement for Chiba sensei's videos.

Here you go:

and if you go to any reasonably sized shiai over here they are always selling them. you could ask a friend who goes to the All Japans or the Kyoto Taikai to pick them up for you.

of-course, learning from a video is a hopeless cause... unless its yourself your watching.

Do you think that there's any way to purchase the three of them together? Is there anyone outside of Asia selling it? I have spent the last weeks trying to find a way to order them...

Thanks.

Technically, no. I searched all the website but I couldn't find this either. Only way it is possible is to ask bogu stores to carry such videos. Keep calling them and ask if they can get this for us.

Ask around the dojo if they got any friends in/going to Japan who can buy it for you.
That's what I did.

Anyone who understand Japanese, can you please find a link where you can buy such video and ship to foregin countries?

I got mine from Korean website, called Kumdomall.com. There are number of videos available from this site. Problem is they only ships within Korea.

Well, you said you asked around...I'm just surprised that you don't have any fellow kenshi that subscribes to Kendo Nippon.

That said, if we show enough interest, we could potentially get either budovideos.com or budogu.com to carry them.

I'm kind of tired of hitting up my friends that are going to Japan to pick up these videos for me myself.

That is so true. It would be good if we have a point where we can share such information. In a way, I guess we are already doing it. Unfortunately, we don't have any Japanese Kenshi in my town since it is very small town. That makes it tougher.

That's what I did too. Actually I have asked my japanese friends, but the whole process is taking too much time...

Thanks you too for your answer.
