Could you tell us some more about this event? Is it a Kendo seminar? Or a Budo seminar. Kyoto sounds fine though.

yeh sure, its starting on 25th April and lasts to 29th April and "befitted for all noble practitioners of classical budo", so im guessing it everything such as Kendo, Iaido, Jodo etc

For something you are paying many installments for fou dont sound so sure about what it is.
I am guessing its something to do with the DNBK (http://www.dnbk.org/).
They seem not like kendo as it is (http://www.dnbk.org/ievents6.cfm):
Unlike the golden era of early Showa, when all Japan Kendo matches overfilled the Butokuden with elite Kendo practitioners of the entire nation, today's condition calls for an alarming urgency as to revitalize the Kendo division in the ample time. It was quite evident that the modern sport Kendo had made regressive impact in terms of sustaining traditional Kenjutsu domain. It appeared the inconsistency and major changes extant in relationship between Maai and skills prowess for clarifying the proper skills. As a result it showed the wherewithal of our future devotion to restore the balanced instructional necessities beyond the scope of sport context of Kendo.
Am sure weve talked about this organisation before. Do they issue kendo/iaido grades outside of the znkr/znir?
Anyway, I will prob go check it out next year.

Sorry if i sounded unsure, i was not sure about what other budo arts this seminar had to offer. I only do Iaido so i was only concerned about the seminar did Iaido, but closer looking at the letter this seminar offers 6 "all day seminars in Butoku Den"
Kendo
Jujitsu
Karatedo
Aikijujutsu
Iaido
Judo
Yes its organised by the DNBK, Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, yes they do gradings, iaido gradings i know they do for sure, 6 minutes demonstartion with your group, Sensei recommends you for going for such a grade, a diferent system to what the BKA offer, i dont know about kendo.
Hope this helps

if anyone is interested the Butokukai was the 'original' MA association in Japan. After the war it was dissolved. You then had random MA's such as judo , kendo etc being allowed to start back up and these formed their own associations. When it was a bit more 'safe' to start allowing all the MA's back, they tried to reform the group, however by then it had a stigma of being 'war related', and the other groups were big enough that they didnt need to join.... also some old members went back, some didnt. Hence there is no single umbrella organisation for all the MA's in Japan (as in France for instance)
What you may also find is that the people who do kendo are also in ZNKR,iaidoka in ZNIR etc etc etc. this is not unusual either. Should be a good seminar, so enjoy the trip! there are usually loads of little shops who turn up and also some local events such as militaria fairs ongoing. If you stay over the May weekend, there is also a ZNKR and ZNIR seminar nearby which also includes kyudo etc. go to those as well for an all round budo overdose!
