Hello everyone,
I just replaced my synthetic do with a spiffy new 60 peice bamboo do from Eguchi (thanks Lisa) and had a couple of questions about it. My other do was shiney and easy to maintain. Is there any special care instructions to keep my do looking nice? Do I have to buff it and is there any special type of wax polish I should use?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks!

how much did that put you back? did they just replace it with your old mune, or did you buy a whole new one? i want to find a place that will replace my old black plastic do with a bamboo one, with my existing mune

Maintenance: Meguiar’s Plastic Polish (or other) and wax works very well. Minimizes the scuffing. Anything more than plastic polish may take off the lacquar. Most people simply don't do this, but I do when I'm not too lazy. I don't know what my Japanese friends do.
Changing the dohdai to bamboo: The mune on most if not all plastic and fiber dohdai are punched the same as for a 43 stave bamboo doh. If you want to upgrade you will be limited to that. The 43 is a little susceptible to cracking.

Actually, it was only $600.00 U.S. I think it was a very good price. Plus it has a much better sound when hit. It is a little heavier but really nifty.

Curtis, Thank you for the quick response,
Meguiar’s? Like the car polish? And for wax do you mean a wax like turtle wax or something along those lines?

Yep, that's the stuff, Meguiar’s car polish and liquid Turtle wax. I love it. Used to put on before a tourney so my do would shine. Never stopped the points though. You have to be careful not to get it on the leather. Rubbing or polishing compound will take your lacquar off.
