Does anyone know of a general reference point of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu which describes each kata with their Japanese names that could be used as a supplement to learning Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu?
Please let me know.

You may find this useful, its a translation of Iwata Norikazu senseis' book on MJER on my old friend Colin Watkin's excellent site. The guidelines contained within are more important than just learning the names!!

When my own site is up and running (again) it will include a name list for the waza. I have just been given a scroll with them all on, including the tachi uchi no kurai, albeit in Japanese, which is about six feet long!!

website is back up at http://chidokan.tripod.com/
I've stuck on a list of waza names (nearly finished!) Hopefully they wont take this one down without warning like last time just because its on a free page area... I forgot how rubbish I am at typing, its taking me ages to put back what I lost!

TRY; THE ART OF JAPANESE SWORDSMANSHIP by Nicklaus Suino
1994 Weatherhill books
I really don't like the way it is illustrated but it is a great way
to jog the memory... Tom

yes its a good book, I quite enjoyed it. Very little in English at a reasonable level of understanding, I have some in Japanese but they take ages to translate ( especially if you are a bit stupid like me!). I wish some publishers would get some of the older books and get them translated, I'm sure they would do well over in the West...
