A couple of times I witness this kind of situation, but I am not sure which is correct: Basically a Sensei who you are practicing against in Jikeiko has his Dou Himo loosen up (the one at the waist)... What would you do if you see that happen?

Is there a standard answer for this question?

I don't know if there is a 'standard' answer for this question, but i would, and have, raise my right hand and politely tell him that his himo are untied. he doesn't have a problem with this, and he's pretty strict on ettiquette. i suppose techincally bogu coming untied is a safety issue.

Sorry, forget to mention.

I would stop the bout and wait in yasume, until my sensei's return.

Definately agree. It doesnt matter who the loose cord is from. A saftey issue if highlighted must be dealt with straight away.

As for the ettiquette... since I practice at the same Dojo as D'artagnan... the same rules apply. Bring the issue to your opponents attention, and retire (sonkyo.. if jigeiko or kirikaeshi, stand back if other keiko) until the problem is rectified.

oooh a dog smilie :dog:

here i have notice that when the men himo of a sensei are untied, some students get over him , he goes it squat position, and they tie it for him.

The student playing the sensei doesnt do anything, stays there and wait.

I guess they do that to maximise the time student can play with the senseis. At first I found it quite funny and weird.

It happens to me many times.
During Jikeiko, yes I will stop and tell him. Otherwise when it happened during kirikaeshi and kakari geiko you should never stop until you finished the routine.

Mind you, I am specificly focusing on wherther to tie the himo for the Sensei or not. I have seen more senior kendoka tying it for some very high ranking Sensei on 3+ occations. (i.e. option #3)

Some Sensei actually sit and wait for the other person to come over and help him, while some try to tie it quickly before the other person move over...
