Hopefully, someone will find this (http://mcsweeneys.net/links/lists/20DamianHaas.html) as entertaining as I did.
I don't know any zen parables, so I can't comment on the authenticity, but #1 had me in tears.

Since words can only point to abstracts and their references, and since these then point to artificial labels for metaphors that we experience and observe, we are then left with only one conclusion, which is, everything is metaphor.

These are great! I think the nose pinching one is real, the nose punch is not! Other than that...!

"one fine spring day, a young disciple looked at some branches blowing in the wind, he asked his master
'Master, are the branches moving or is it the wind?'
Not even glancing to where his pupil was pointing, the master smiled and said
'That which moves is neither the branches nor the wind, it's your heart and mind.'"
"Late, one autumn night, the disciple woke up crying, the master asked the disciple 'Did you have a nightmare?'
'No'
'Did you have a sad dream?'
'No' said the disciple, 'I had a sweet dream'
'then why are you crying so sadly?'
the disciple answered quietly, while wiping his tears,
'Because the dream I had can never come true.''

Very parapharased
A young monk was meditating with his master when suddenly hep opened his eyes, crying out. His master asked him what the matter was. He answered that he had seen a vision of hell and demons that had terrified him. His master simply replied, let it go.
Later he was meditating again and he had an intensely erotic vision, his master smacked him over the back of the head saying, let it go.
