I had to evolve some amazing kata interpretations to work in my room.
Mae: Kneel, nukitsuke, pick up broken alarm clock, shuffle backwards to allow for kirioroshi, cut! Admire new dent in cieling, turn 90* left to allow ochiburi, noto looking backwards so saya doesn't smack off chair. Don't bother stepping back or standing up, you'll only damage something.
You shall perform three kata, and three shall be the number of kata you can do, the ski in tsuka ate is too dangerous. thou shalt not perform mae or ushiro, unless immediately proceeding to a very very low uke nagashi. Kesa giri is right out! :D
Monty Katana and the quest for the Holy sake cup.
Incidently anyone seen the japanese dub translated back into english on the special features? feckin brilliant.

And yet another use for a Bokken:
Homer: [taunting] Bart and Lisa have to go to school, while I get to
stay at home, naah naah nah naah naah.
Lisa: I like school.
Homer: Well, why don't you live at it, then?
Lisa: [drolly] I would if I could.
Bart: Not me, sister. When I grow up I want to be a lardo on workman's
comp, just like Dad.
[Imagines an older, superfat Bart lying on a bed with media
people all around him.]
[Southern accent] I wash myself with a rag on a stick.
[The media applauds.]

Once in high school, when I didn't know better, we had a friend cut open his birthday pinata with a wall-hanger katana.
We also once bought bokken at the mall and then used them to play baseball with AOL discs in the parking lot.

ooo pain brush, sounds kinky....
Sorry couldn't resist it.
As for dents in the walls/ceiling/furniture, my wife is very patient and actually likes DIY and decorating.
Jobs a good un! ^_^

But for kids parties you wanna use shinai. Trust me. Actually, shinai work quite well. My housemate's five year old did a fantastic men cut on my sempai's daughter's birthday pinanta and split it beautifully!

Exagerating, not quite kidding.
Didn't go far enough IMO, there's no excuse for violence against children.
Though I believe the law's slightly different in England. In Scotland, you're not allowed to use an instrument (belt, cane, bokken), no hitting the head or shaking. They was a plan to ban smacking children under 3 as well, but apparently its our right to hit children...

i havent slept in two days becouse of university... so un this higher state of mind that i found myself right now i ended up with a question about this tread:
why is that you can use a bokken to do a lot of other stuff but you cant use other stuff as a boken?
i mean, you can use the boken to hit a piņata, but you cant use any other stick that you use to hit the piņata as a boken...
i imagine myself doing kendo kata with a baseball bat...

Your poor imaginary wrists! :(
My mum always used a wooden spoon, same with my friend. Eventually they had to buy metal ones because he buned them all.

Only the smacking of children. It is quite alright for you and your partner of choice to beat each others buttocks red raw if you like.
Phew, I was getting worried there.
Oooh, hit me again, I've been naughtier than that:D

It is COMPULSORY to smash strip lights in the kitchen. If you haven't done this at least once you are a total failure as a swordsman.....
