since i hadn't set my keikogi before wearing it my bokuto became all blue and ugly. I was wondering how to clean it. I tried with a damp cloth but now it looks dead and i think i took all the oil off. So also what kind of oil do i use on it?

Wipe on, rub it in and repeat until it won't absorb more - then allow to air dry for a day or two and buff with a clean terry cloth rag. Others will recommend linseed oil or others (but it can get sticky).

I use light coat of Olive Oil on mine once a week.
Have had no issues.

Other than that, maybe Shinai oil?

Failing that, er..Pledge? (http://image.compusa.com/prodimages/17/2dde59bd-b027-4b5c-bde9-87531957ca29.gif) :D

Thx.Any woodworking supply place, Home Depot or decent hardware store should have it. It's a bit gelatinous, so you need to thin it some so it will penetrate. When it cures, it polymerizes (rather like urethane or epoxy) and then it shines up nicely when you buff it.

I admire how you even know the right "grit" of the sandpaper to do the job.
