that was beautiful! I wish my back could support the stances. I wouldn't mind trying Iado or kenjutsu. I'm starting to really enjoy the nihon kendo katas.

the link goes to a kumdo school though. Curious. They claim to be kendo...

Looks very much like the ZNKR Seiteigata tape (studio and lighting-wise). No pretty-sounding young miss telling me to cleave my opponent through the temple though...

Actually, he is the sensei from Sungmookwan, New Jersey. He holds 7th dan in Kumdo.. I had a chance to geiko with him and he is pretty strong. During 15 min. geiko, I couldn't even touch him.. Then again, I am not high rank enough to judge anything..

His dojo movie..

He seems to teach sword technics to his students. I cannot comment since I don't have any clue about Iaido...

cheers,

I had a chance to practice with him too, a couple of years ago, when he visited us. Our (then) instructor was his student in Korea.

That's because they are.

Last time I checked, Kendo was Kumdo, Kumdo was Kendo, but maybe that has changed.

"kendo is kendo and kumdo is also kendo"

I think the movie is pretty cool and would have certainly attracted me to kendo and iai had I seen it years ago. Whether its iai/batto with a tradition behind it I will leave up to your imagination.

If I was running a commercial dojo I would want as many people paying dues as possible..... who cares what the people think it is they are doing.

p.s. and the teacher is obvious pretty handy.
