I'm probably moving to New Zealand next year & was wondering what *slightly obvious* problems I'd encounter if I was to take my Iaito with me? Is it worth the hassle or should I just get another when I get there?

Going into New Zealand you should have no problems at all. I've taken iaito and shinken back home on various occasions, and the only problem has been the customs guys who want to talk to you about what you do!

One of the guys on the X-ray machine going in even pointed out that my iaito was a good one because the tang went most of the way up the tsuka.

Why not leave it here and buy a new one? When you come back to the northeast on holiday etc it'll save you carrying an extra case!
Or to save you the worry of customs I'll give you 20 quid for it!:D

£20? Sounds about right. The case and accessories will cost an extra £100 though:p
