sticky grip?

anybody ever try putting a sticky substance on the shinai handle for more control/better grip?

last night i used my master's jookdo and clearly had trouble maintaining a grip on the thicker handle. in fact, it forced me to grip tighter which in turn stressed my shoulders more.

i prefer a thinner handle but in the event i have to use a thicker one i will apply something to make it stickier.

any suggestions?
