Hi,
Will be attending Kitamoto this year. I will need to buy some stuff when I get to Japan and was looking for advice on stores around NARITA or Tokyo and whether the one by the seminar venue is any good.

TIA

No worries. Any help appreciated. I used to work in Seoul and I remember that whenever I went to Tokyo on business, it was just a case of a run-on work-day...

Sakuraya is a stones throw from the Budokan and next to Kudanshita subway station. Diagonally opposite the police box.

There are 2 shops in Kitamoto and a budogu retailer also calls once or twice. Best get in early as the other participants will have shopping on their mind as well.

Hello Cesare,
In the center of Narita close to the Narita temple (Narita Zen) there is a parking place/town square. On the side of this square hidden in an alley is a Bogu Ya. I can't remember the name. It is ridiculously small but well stocked and the owner/salesman was very helpful. I will try to find some more details but this is all I remember.
It's near the temple so everyone in the neighborhood should know.
Best of luck.

Thank you to all for helping me out. I haven't been back to Japan in quite a few years so all your advice is VERY welcome.

Thanks man! You really do get around. Nottingham?? Do you practice at ASKA with Murata sensei, btw? My best regards if you see him soon. Maybe we can meet up at Verona for Sakudo Sensei's seminar/practice on Tuesday.

Cheers

I started doing kendo with Murata sensei, but as they practice in Treviso (little bit far away from my home) and I was going to finish my university I quitted after a year and a half...now I practice with a Gabriele Martin sensei's student, but we are affiliated with Ceriello sensei from Venice (actually we're having some little problems with newbies running away after putting they bogu on and being hit on the men as hard as we can...)...anyway I surely will be in Verona on Tuesday so see you soon.

Last time in Gedatsukai Center on the ground floor you could buy lots of equipment; from shinai parts, uniforms, parts and whole sets of bogu. They had discount on everything and considering that in such a case you avoid shipping it's worth to consider that one. During the whole seminar they were available for seling items. I don't remember manufacturer but very good quality and affordable prices.

I knew about the store close to the gedatsukai center but didn't realize they would actually sell in the center itself. Thank you eisenfaust.

I actually buy from tozando but ems is a killer for italy. I really wish I had time to go to kyoto but will have to try it next time. Thanks for the suggestion tango.

Yes, there is a small store near Center but the folks selling equipment at Gedatsukai is different story.
