It's not that nasty really... During one of the matches I caught in Bangkok, they had someone taking a kick to the head and passed out instantly. Before that blow he was already bleeding from his nose. Guess it's just one of the usual matches people are already used to (competitors and audience alike).

I did the search after watching Human Weapon (http://www.history.com/minisites/humanweapon). The show itself was kinda lame but they showed not just Muay Thai but koryu-type martial arts from Thailand, which was very interesting. I'm looking forward to the Judo and Karate episodes.
