The Kendo Grading Book + DVD (NTSC) advertised on the front page of KW looks interesting. Somehow, it has been rated three stars, however. Anyone have first-hand experience with this set? Is it worth getting?

Framerate and resolution. NTSC is the video standard used in North America TV (and Japan?), whereas PAL is used in Europe.
NTSC got higher frame rate (30fps), but slightly less resolution. It's also infamous for having no colour standard and is often called "Never Twice the Same Colour".
Most modern TVs, DVDs and if you have it, VHS players can display both NTSC and PAL, but that wasn't the case 5-6 years ago.
The only time you'll really notice the difference is when watching live sports from the US, where there will occasionally be visible framedrops when the action is fast enough.
