You could just enter sensei Uehar/Suzuki/Toda on YouTube search,and watch the videos...

Kendo: The Definitive Guide is an excellent text for a beginner. Though waza are covered in-depth, half of the book is dedicated to several chapters talking about the mentalities of keiko and shiai. Very good stuff.
