Excuse me, on the other thread, is this a "new" Jodo organisation or collective 'meeting' point for JODO in Britain

hmmmm curious... is it an IKF affiliate person/dojo ?

Have I missed something ....:confused2

Looks like it is a Shinto Muso Ryu org, not Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei.

Having looked at their website, their main teacher, Adrian Knight, is a student of Nishioka Tsuneo Sensei and they have direct lineage with Shimizu Takaji Sensei via the SMR route rather than through the ZNKR.

Looks legit though, I wish them all the best.

Good to see Adrian is becoming famous :) when I was training in Tokyo with the Sei Ryu Kai he was invaluable - since he was at every session and able to translate. Very good at explaining the jo and kenjutsu of SMR.

I can vouch for Adrian, eventhough he doesn't need it. He's a stand-up guy and a skilled Jodoka. I met him during the EJF Gasshuku in Prague just a few weeks ago.

If ya got any questions dont hesitate to email him.

Hi Gents

As for the Jodo & beer comments I totally agree. As I witnessed recently at the Prague Gasshuku there was an awful lot of beer drunk and it was very cheap too :ponder:

Oh! bye the way, Hi Fredrik it's Mark Taylor the solitary Englishman at the Prague Gasshuku :)

Just to clarify a few things. I hope the www.Jodokai.org.uk didn't cause too much confusion. It's just that when I wanted to set up the URL and .co.uk didn't sound right.

As to Adrian being the instructor, I wish!!!

I met Adrian in Prague and managed to convince him to give a weekend seminar whilst he's on his travels around Europe before returning to Japan.

I'm trying to setup a Jodo group in the North West of UK practicing SMR Jodo not Seitei. Don't get me wrong I started with Seitei and still practice if given the chance. It's just I feel that SMR Jodo has more to offer.

Back to the site. My aspiration is to try and raise awareness of Jodo in the UK whether it be SMR or Seitei. Where I live there is no Jodo group at all. My nearest training dojo is with Keith Rose Sensei in Yorkshire. Which I gladly train with when given the chance.

Re the Seminar on 6/7th Oct 2007 I hope you can come and have a look. I know it's an introduction and some of you are probably well past that, but Adrian is here only for a short time and I'm hoping that he will vary his course structure slightly to cater for more advanced students

Well I hope that clears up the mud slightly.
Oh! one more point in the parish center the bar is only next door :ko:

Enjoy your training

Mark Taylor

Jodo beginner (A man just starting his journey into the discovery of Jodo)

P.S. If anyone would like there club to be included on this site then please let me know mark@jodokai.org.uk No catch just trying to spread the word to an unsuspecting world.

Thats a relief I was worried you foreigners were kidnapping him, we don't have anywhere near enough SMR instructors in Aus to share them around....

What do you mean not enough SMR instructors? We don't have enough jodo instructors full stop whether SMR or Seitei! And there I am, flying all the way across the country to train with you and you're buggering off before I get there!

You owe me a beer at Nationals for that ;)

You buggers are the lucky ones you've got Addo & Andy in Sydney

Who is there in the UK, talking SMR here not Seitei?

Hey Fred how ya doin?

I'm just going through the videos I took in Prague. Some great stuff on the tapes. I felt really lucky to be there to see it all. Can't wait for Madrid next year  The beer will be a lot more expensive though :ko:

Have you recovered from Prague now. I was really quite fed up on my first week back. It's always the same when you go to a long seminar.

Anyway, nice talking to you, cu soon.

They have a lot more in Sydney dojo - from Gomoroku down to Okuiri they have 5 or 6 people, its the rest of the country that is light on - a couple in Queensland and one or two others and thats it....

Hi Aden

I still say you're the lucky ones. I don't know anyone in the UK with that sort of SMR experience.

That's why I personally am following the FEJ route. I know there's a lot of experienced Jodoka based in the South and doted around various parts of the UK but from my limited knowledge they're all ZNKR people not SMR. Again we're a little bit starved of teachers in the North West of England, I don't know of any!!!

Anyone anything to add??

Well the mid to high practitioners of jodo in the BKA also practise koryu SMR. I would think the closest person to you in Keith Rose of Doshin Kenyukan,

Hi Andy

Yes so I believe so, but unfortunately they seem to congrugate mainly down the South of England. You don't fancy moving up here for a bit do you? :)

Yes I know Keith and have trained with him. He's due to run a Sunday session in a couple of weeks, so hopefully I'll see him again then.

In the meantime I'll carry on with Kihon Tandoku and and solo kata and hope for the best
