All is in the title.
What are the differences betwen a bokken for Aikido and a Boken for kendo, assuming that I don't really know what is Aikido ?

The only difference I noticed between the boken is that the ones some of my Aikido friends have are a little thicker, thats about it.

most aikido dojo i have been to use just normal bokken that kendo use for kata. but there is something called iwama style bokken that some aikido practitional use. the iwama style bokken is thicker and heavier than most usual bokken that we see and it has blunt tip.

thats right, ive practiced aikido for about 1/2 year and we used those bigger bokken. are ticker becouse in practice it really takes a nice amount of damage. anyway i have no idea why it has no tip, my guess is that without tip it wont hurt you if you get tsukied...

I've being doing Aikido for about 15 years, and can safely say that there is no single "aikido" bokuto/bokken. Apart from the Iwama bokuto already mentioned, I've seen people use Kashima Ryu-type bokuto, straight bokuto with no tsuba, straight bokuto with wooden tsuba...
Most Aikidoka would use a bokuto very similar to the one Kendoka are familiar with, white oak being the preferred material.
Hope this helps.

I have nearly 4 hours of aikido experience. So I can't really comment, but I've only ever seen bog standard kendo style bokken used. However, the big huge oar like bokken are incredibly cool. I reckon we should use them in kendo.....

Studied aikido for 12 years. We basically used the same bokken as we do in kendo, but i can imagine the thicker iwama ones being used especially when you cut aiki-ken style, right hip planted forward and a huge draw down to cut tekki in half. Took around 3 years to learn to keep my hips and shoulders square for kendo cutting as opposed to aikido cutting. Verrrryy different.
