Hi all,

Wierd thing is happening to me and I am curious of people's thoughts. So at practice the other day I was really working on my fumikomi for a bit. I actually was getting a strong sound out of it, I felt like my weight was shifting like it is supposed to, nothing hurt, and everything felt good. Then I return home and after cleaning up and all, I notice that my entire bottom of my right foot is brownish reddish. Almost like it is bruised or like things look when you are bleeding under your skin, but there is not a lot of blood and it's not blister like either. I hope that makes sense. It doesn't hurt at all, but it looks hurt.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just what happens before your foot toughens up with even bigger and mightier callouses?

Thoroughly confused,
Me

It's called a blood blister. It doesn't have to hurt. What happened was some skin layer below your outer skin got broken and so you see blood. It's not bright red because that's the color of blood when it is not exposed to air.

Oh.... it's one one of those, I've had that several times, what I did was puncture it with a needle just so the blood would just flow, it will eventually stop though.

I've had a blood blister before. This was different. There is so little blood that it hasn't collected enough to become blister like, but I can still see it a little under the skin, and it was also pretty much spread across most of my foot, where the blood blisters I get are usually just in small areas the size of a dime.

Who knows, it's just wierd.

Hi... I've been reading on this forum for a while... and being the newbie that I am, I can't contribute much to other discussions so this is my first opportunity.

I've had something similar to what you're describing. It seems harmless enough, theres no pain (didn't even notice it till days after) and it's gradually disappearing.

Hope this helps...

Go to your doctor. Maybe it's a rare form of breast cancer.

I am only a beginner as well but I dont get that, sounds nasty though. All of a sudden during training I will start to feel a burning pain on my left foot and I look down and there is a bloody great big patch of skin hanging off somewhere, bloody painful because it is so raw. Its the haya-suburi I say!

But its getting better, left foot is starting to toughen up and it happens left often now, and when it does happen it hurts less, thank god :P.

When I first showed it to my sensei she said to me "Ahhh now we will really begin to train!"
