Hi everybody,

My name is Khung and I am from Singapore. Am currently practising kendo at Flinders University, South Australia. Saw this interesting forum in the net and decided to join. Been playing for nearly more than 6 years but did not get chance to grade. :tired: Still going..........

We have no sensei in the club to grade us. I usually go back to Singapore at the end of each year to train with two 7-Dan sensei from Japan but it is not the correct time for grading. When grading starts, I am already back to Adelaide studying. So this has been ongoing for more than 6 years. One of the sensei I met on road told me that his first grading occurred after 10 years playing kendo. Thus I am not really concern at the moment...... Been training 3-4 times a week ever since I first started. In our club, there is two 3-dan irregulars and a 2 dan. A friend who started the same time I did is already 3-dan..... Cheers.

Hi Ian,

Which kendo club are you from? I trained at Flinders and Adelaide uni but I do not recall knowing you. Cheers :confused:

To correct Ian, our club is run by a 6th Dan Renshi although we still refer to him as "Shihan". We're over in Walkerville (just off North-East road). Next time you're around feel free to come and visit (Monday and Thursday evenings). Details are:

I train in NSW, just south of Sydney. You must be one of the more fearsome ungraded kendoka around :)
