Whats your favorite martial arts movies and why.

Mine

Kill Bill 1 & 2 (Mainly because of the way they mix western elements with samurai cinema)

Fearless (I loved the last part where they have wushu against karate)

The last samurai (not because of the story and tom cruise being a samurai and what not but the way the samurai were protrayed, the part when they all die is the best, i love the way they charged through the last line of troops and didnt even stop to finish them off but kept on going toward the command centre. i'm sure some of you who hated the movie thought that was the best part to.

"Sidekicks"
The part where the kid does a two nun-chaku show was really impressive back then.
Of course, as every kid,I too tried to imitate the moves.

Not very successful though, but still not bad like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9wI2-a0ulY).

Quite recurrent thread, but the last one was 2years ago,I wasn't a member back then...

And so we begin to understand why topics will be repeated. Each new person needs to discover the answer to their questions for themselves, not by reading old threads, but by engaging in discourse.

And that's also why contributors retire. They get bored. At 6000+ posts, Neil's the exception.

Fearless as a movie was cool but it kinda bothered me how it has this neat little message of what his idea of budo is and in the interviews of Jet Li on the DVD he said how it was so important and such that this would be his last movie... and then he goes and makes another movie... ARGHHH!

Anyway, I did like it too...

That, I think, was just part of the hype.

His 2006 release was the martial arts film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_arts_film) epic Fearless (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fearless). Although he will continue to make Martial Arts movies, Fearless is his last Wushu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wushu) epic...
"I stepped into the martial arts movie market when I was only 16. I think I have proved my ability in this field and it won't make sense for me to continue for another five or 10 years. Huo Yuanjia is a conclusion to my life as a martial arts star."
Li has stated in an interview with the Shenzhen Daily newspaper that this will be his last martial arts epic, which is also stated in the movie's television promotions. However, he plans to continue his film career in other genres. Specifically, he plans to continue acting in action and martial arts films; epic films deal more with religious and philosophical issues. Li's latest film, War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_%28film%29), was released in August 2007, and re-teamed him with actor Jason Statham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Statham) and action choreographer Corey Yuen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corey_Yuen).

The Challenge with Scott Glenn and the world's worst bowl-cut hairstyle ever. The movie had Toshiro Mifune and I liked the very basic story, the 80's style of clothes, and the fighting was pretty good too.

Sanjuro and Yojimbo if you count them as Martial arts movies. 47 Ronin ranks highly up there too. Throw in Gohatto for the kendo.

Does Mr. Vampire count? Lam Ching-ying is very entertaining.

Twilight Samurai

Why was it your favorite?
In your own words, discuss the plot and story.
What do you think the director was trying to convey?
What did you take away after seeing this movie?

-and If you google it, we will know.

Anybody besides me get all misty-eyed at at the end of 47 Ronin?

Very powerful story, in all of their versions.

KAGEMUSHA, i despise that movie, to save money or they were just lazy they didnt show katsuyori's troops being slaughtered at nagashino.
