The ten-minute condensed versions had me in splits:

Fellowship of the Ring (http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyirony/FOTRparody.html)

The Two Towers (http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyirony/10minTTT.html)

Return of the King (http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyirony/ROTKparody.html)

I just *finally* got around to seeing Clerks II. Put a whole different spin on the LotR for me.

I thought these were funnier than the movies.

Especially the "Welcome to Rivendell, Mister Anderson" bit

Agreed, that was funny.

I only saw the first of the trilogy, which was truly appalling.
I can see Peter Jackson saying "Hmm, how can we get some dwarf-tossing jokes in here?" "How can we get representation for the gay community? - Frodo?" "We need more kissing scenes!" "Sauruman's orcs aren't macho enough, and we need to write in some kind of orc-lord." "Hey, has anyone here actually read the book? No? Bugger."

we are NOT talking about lord of the ring ok???

I mean, talk about it is one thing, talking about why the movie isnt like the books becouse somewhere in the movie the name of the grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand father of an elf that noone knows wheren't pronunciated correctly becouse they did it in "elvish A" and should have been in "elvish B" and bla la bla... its a complete different matter...

I hope that Kenzan and Ignatz team appears and we start talking of things that really matters in life, like watching football or peeing in the shower... hahaha

The films just cut out a lot of the crap in the books (Tom Bombadil and all those verses) and concentrated on the important bits although Liv Tyler's role was expanded far too much.

Well, maybe apart from Peter Jackson - many times. Frodo - a gay icon! I enjoyed the films for what they were - a compromise. Doing the films exactly as the books would have been tedious and boring as well as films of over 10 hours length. Most of the actors playing the characters were well chosen - apart from Boromir and Faramir who were just totally wrong. And Aragorm was a bit too young.

Also, when Frodo and Bilbo turned invisible, surely they would have gone blind, as their retinas were invisible, so therefore couldn't pick up light? :confused2

Ah well, you see, the property of the ring was to actually bend light around the person wearing it which effectively made the wearer invisible to other people. The light bending effect also causes a vision impairment to the wearer, hence the strange view they have of the world whilst wearing the aforesaid ring. Twas ever thus in days of yore whilst strange creatures roamed the world and much evil was upon the land. Only men of great fortitude and moral uprightness could hope to stand against such evil and hope, perchance, to prevail. Let this be a rallying cry to all men good and true.

Sorry, got carried away.
