I'm looking to get a pocket PC. Can anyone recommend me a good one? Or what to avoid?

Ask Kaoru.... Though she's probably going to tell you not to get one.

xda mini s (htc wizard)
xda orbit (also HTC rebranded)
anything by HTC really, cheap and lotsa bang for buck.

I want that one, and it can sell for as little as £65 on ebay! Add in a sat nav package for an even bigger BANG!
I have a Palm Tungsten T which I still maintain is my best ever ebay purchase. That was £65 but I think you can get one cheaper nowadays. A T3 is quite cool as it has a bigger screen and you can get Kinoma player/producer on it. I would regularly see a guy on the train with one who'd copied the previous nights TV onto it to watch during the commute.
Palm may not be your platform though, but having played with my bosses PocketPC I find it a much easier OS.
