Hello, does anyone know where I can find good Kendo gifts for Christmas? I would like to find a sight without those dinky, little figures. Because that's all I could find. Anywhere I can find stuff like clocks, mugs, cool statues, ect.?
All pointers are appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Kitty Kendo cell phone strap (from strapya.com) for the girls. There is also hello kitty naginata and a hello kitty samurai.
There are shinsengumi (bravest of samurai) netsuke for the boys :D

Musashigo (Ogata Budogu) also has kendo mugs in red and blue. Oh and I have a men keyring :) I think the OH got it from Tozando or somewhere else

In order to find anything really cool, you're just going to have to do lots of google searches for them. There are a few exceptions if you look really hard, but for the most part, all the known kendo sites have the same things. I wanted to get something Kendo related, but the best I could find that was different was an all wood kendo figurine (http://www.zen-sankei.com.au/onlineshopping/product_info.php?cPath=21_54&products_id=370) from one of the austrailian kendo sites. There are a few others, but they take some rather irregular poses if you ask me.

As a result, I had to settle for this (http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-31454406522016_1973_11905545) as a graduation gift given to me by a friend

www.cafepress.com (http://www.cafepress.com) has a big range of kendo mugs, bags, shirts, hoodies, journals, posters, you name it they have it. Just go to the website and search for kendo. Last christmas I got all my kendo goodies from there.

You know, You could always ahem, *make* a gift.
Like a hand-made tenugui, or a custom tsuba made from some cool mineral or wood, or buy some clay and paint and make a Kendo doll, or a furoshiki for their bogu, or my personal favorite, make a bokken and burn his/her name in it with a wood-burning set in their native tongue!

Failing that, bake 'em a PIE!!!:D
You can never go wrong with pie.

Well..unless maybe it's a cow-pie.....

anyway, It's better than store-bought crap, and the person will probably appreciate it 100 times more.
If they don't, then you might want to consider why they are your friend in the first place.

Handy when making Dou-nuts

Do you even cook them, more like deep fat fry or some stupid unhealthy thing.

I made my first Musashi tsuba about 3 years ago and it was a hit with my friends, now I have around 30 different designs, some reproductions of old tsubas and many of our own design, I am having fun doing these.

Hello!

Well, I was about to post this list yesterday when my stupid internet connection went down. :( So, here it is... Sorry if some links got repeated since I saw at least one of mine in the new posts today. So, here they all are... :)

For coffee mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc:

http://www.cafepress.com/learnkendo

----------------------

http://www.playwell.co.uk/store/acatalog/Kendo_Gifts_.html

http://www.tsamartialarts.com/acatalog/Kendo_Gifts.html

---------------------

In Japanese mostly, but has some really cool stuff!

http://www.isenokami.com/Kendo/2004/12/looking-for-holiday-kendo-gifts.html

------------------

http://www.irontsuba.com/kendo3.htm

------------

It's not a mug or anything, but this is a cool video that apparently isn't on DVD but worth checking out it looks like from the description. Wish it was on DVD! Has some vintage video on it from the 50's and 60's of kendo. Strangely enough, it's on Target.com.

http://www.target.com/Kendo-Japanese-Fencing-Tsunami-Various/dp/6305434786

----------------

http://bogushop.com/products.asp?cat=23

------------------

Tons of stuff here:

http://www.jun-gifts.com/specialcollections/tenuguitowel/tenuguitowel.htm

Some is kendo related and others are just gifts from Japan.

--------------------

Kendo mug on e-bay:

---------------

Another site with tons of kendo things like T-shirts, mugs, kendo journals, etc with kendo photos on them. This isn't cafepress. It's a different site:

http://www.portugal.com.pt/get_url.asp?SiteID=3771

---------------------

Small amount of unique kendo things here:

http://shop.mookas.us/shop_part2.asp?curCate=0703

-------------------

This is just cute. Scroll down, and you'll see a Kendo action figure doll:

http://www.e-kendo.net/kendo-goods.htm

In Japanese.

--------------------

Cute dolls and other things here:

http://www.minobou.com/

In Japanese.

----------------

Well, that ought to be enough for now. :) I put a lot just in case you and others wanted more things.

Hope this helps!

Here's the real question: What do you get for that special someone who DOESN'T practice kendo but puts up with your incessant ravings, long trips to various tournaments, and forfeits portions of evenings together so you can go to keiko?

A diamond necklace :p

Though the teenage daughter of one of my sempai can't do martial arts but goes to the iai/jo nationals and is known and loved by the Japanese sensei who visit and is a sweetheart so I got her a tea ceremony kit for her birthday. Maybe something like that or a kimono?

indulge her for once, and do what she like. she must have some sorta hobbie she pursues. if all else fails. .. flowers and jewlery.
