Since it is the SCKO championships, I don't think the SCKF people are invited. I asked my Sensei about it at the test last weekend. He acted like he didn't know about it.
Good luck Kiki. :cross_eye

To the best of my knowledge - invitations went out all over, SCKF, University clubs etc. It's an open tournament. Didn't an SCKF yudansha win the title last year?

I'll be there! I herd that if you at least become 2nd place, you could get stuff like shinai, dougi, hakama, and even bogu! So everyone who is in this tournament is in this for the prizes. What ever about the trophy! It's the prize!!

And I forgot to ask... why is there 2 of the same thread on this forum?

I dunno. I made this one a while ago, and when I came to the page this morning I thought my thread somehow made it back to the top. Oh well.

Yea, I hope I place this time around. Hell, I hope I make it past the first round. I get too nervous at tourneys. Have to remember to relax. A new shinai and equipment sounds good. My 3 shinai's have all been pieced together from broken ones for a while now.

Yes, this will be the 4th or 5th year that I will NOT be in this tournament. Those trophies are really nice tho.

the only good thing about the dark side is that they have the death star!
tenken and jamie must use the force to beat the dark ones! hahahaha
anyways they give out kool stuff so thats whats good about that shiai.

Hey guys! How did the tourney go for you? It was the first individual tournament for my twin bro and I...we did surprisingly well (both made it to the 2nd bracket for the adult kyu's); We're from the UCSD team, and 12 our of our 15 players made it into the 2nd and 3rd brackets. We even took 2nd or 3rd place in some areas of the tourney. This was a great event; It was awesome to watch all the various styles of kendo (as a newer player, I have not seen many styles) and to meet so many friendly people, despite what I have heard about bad blood between SCKO and SCKF.
I'm the VP External of the UCSD Kendo Club; my twin is the Prez; if you guys wanna come down to visit SD or organize an event, or if UCLA Kendo Club needs help getting organized, lemme know!

Great job everyone!

I had a good time even though I lost in the finals. Scored a kote that felt so good I'm going to remember it for a long time. Several new dojo joined in which made things really interesting like you said.

How are the plans coming for the UCSD seminar?
