Hi folks

Vol. 2 #2 of the magazine was shipped out to subscribers about 1 week ago(October 15). If you haven't already received it, it should be any day now.

We are frantically working on Vol. 2 #3 and that should be ready for publication not long after the All Japan Champs on November 3. We also hope to have Vol. 2 #4 out in January which will put us back on track again. The book projects that we undertook knocked us back quite a bit, but we will get there in the end.

Thank you all for your patience as usual, and please let us know that the mag was received. Any comments on the content is most welcome. :cheeky:

Kindest regards,

Kendo World Team

Hi Alex.

Keep up the great work. It was quite a long time without a new magazine, but I think now as new issues will arrive one after the other, it will be a hard time keeping up with the reading :-)
I appreciate your efforts on the book projects (and already ordered two of them), so keep on looking for new books to publish, too.
Ah ... the new website is also very good work.

Enjoy life,
Steffen

Hi there again.

I received my copy on November 3rd.
Currently I'm reading the reports from the WKC in Glasgow. Looks like there have been some really interesting fights going on, so I'm looking forward to the videos in one of the next magazines. The reports and background articles give a very good impression of some of the fights and the atmosphere at the WKC.
I also liked the article on the referee seminar, that clearly showed what I was suspecting all the time - it will take me years to be able to judge what is a valid point and what not in a real shiai, but thats the way in kendo, isn't it ?

Enjoy life,
Steffen :cheerful:

I have a question about the Kendo World magazine... I am interested in subscribing to it but I'd first like to know the relative content of the magazine. Is it mainly reviews of current Kendo events and a few articles on theory or 50/50 or ... ?

Does it address things that are nice to know? (tournaments results/hachi exams/sensei visits to places) or things that we should know? (waza tips/IKF regulation changes/kata stuff) If anything, I'd like a magazine that would help improve my Kendo then one that would keep me uptodate on just the current events.

I don't have money to burn so I'd like to know exactly what I'd be getting. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. General reviews of the magazine would be nice as well.

All of the above and more. I don't think you will be disappointed if you do decide to describe.

Cheers,

All right! I got mine on Saturday (11/15). Looks great, started digging into it right away. Wow, the Shinai Sagas was pretty good, wasn't it? (Wink!)

I'd agree that it's definitely worth subscribing to. Events, waza, philosophy, cross-training, equipment, medical, other aspects of training, history - great stuff.

That's good to hear. I subscribed today... can't wait until I get my first issue. Looking at the back issues though, will Vol 1.1 be unavailable permanently? No reprints or anything like that? Being possibly the only active Kendoka in the entire state of Arkansas, I don't think I could borrow it over from anyone else I know.

Heh, it'd be cool if I was selected to win a year's subscription as well from the survey.

If you haven't got your magazines by now, we can only assume that they were lost in the mail system somewhere. It is extremely frustrating for us as well. Please send us a mail to editor@kendo-world.com so that we know whose haven't arrived and see if we can find out what happened. Of course we will send replacements to ones that have been lost.
