is the stitch where it is likely to get hit or touches the men?
take the doctor or nurses advice when you get it removed

i say if ur truely dedicated to kendo you should turn up either way, heck, maybe u will even rupture the wound and bleed all over the dojo... that would be cool

See what your doctor says. Head wounds bleed much more than similar ones on other parts of your body and I doubt you'd want to have to stop in the middle of practice due to a blood soaked tenugui. Ask your doctor about the risks of it opening after the sutures are removed given that you receive strikes to the head through head protection on a regular basis.

Wear is the suture? Either way, the risk of repoening and getting an infection for me at least, would tell me to just rest for a week.
If its somewhere visible, ie: forehead, definitely wait or your scarring could be worse.

Haha, I cut my knee once during floor cleaning and bled on the dojo floor during warm up.
Very embarrassing.

Based on my medical knowledge of head trauma, (finishes coloring in the edges of his diploma with crayons) I think you should go jump off a cliff. :/
Seriosuly man, talk to your doctor.

I may not be a professional, but I don't think any kendoka would want to do keiko with someone that has a head suture.

I think you already know the answer to your question. No one here is going to advise you to do anything that could cause further damage to your wound, without knowing the extent of it (the wound, not the damage).

Go to class, sit and watch. You'll learn more that way instead of worrying about your head. I did something similar a few months ago. Made a stupid mistake in iaido (O-chiburi) and had a nice gash in my head. My sensei wouldn't let me put my men on and only let me practice with him...so overall it wasn't too bad but in retrospect it was stupid of me to practice.

I think kagerou is right.
You should go to the class but not to practice unless you can perhaps do some light training whereby you won't aggravate the stitches in any way.
It is worth waiting a little time for it to heal fully because if you don't and you cause further problems you might find yourself out of kendo for much longer.
The lesson of patience is the one you are studying at the moment.

St00pid Sensei says you should grab a couple of shinai and a friend, and start whacking the living daylights out of each other in your back yard. Record it on video and put it up on YouTube. Don't forget to call your shinai a "kendo stick" on your commentry.
Andrew says talk to your doctor and your sensei. Maybe just kata and suburi for a while, or even mitori geiko.

If you keen to train, Just let your Sensei knnow what has happened and you will not be able to wear you men for a couple of weeks.
Nothing to stop you particiting Kata, foot work or any other basics.

Last year I had a few stiches on my jaw, and I trained just fine with men on, no worries. First couple of days after they put them in I had a proper plaster thing that sealed round the edges, but after that I just used a bandaid, and after they took them out I didn't even need that. Ofcourse it would be different if it was maybe right on top of your head or had a lot of stiches, it would be comfortable, but I think there is not much risk of infection or even bumping the stiches (unless you rmen is way too lose and rattles around.
In any case, hope it gets better soon!
